I've never played any of the total war games so I have no idea what they are like but I saw some gameplay of Shogun 2 and thought it would be really awesome to play. So is it possible? And upgrading my PC is out of the question because it is too expensive and I only have a laptop.

Total war just isnt the kind of game you can really play with a gamepad, it might be possible sure, but I imagine it would get very annoying which you get big battles, So I suggest you save up for a desktop.

The obvious control issues which would require the devs to massively simplify the game to the point where it wouldn't even be a total war game. Of course that isn't even the main issue because the 360 is using very, very obsolete technology and you would probably only be able to have 500 units on ths screen.

Unless you want severely downgraded graphics, controls that are pretty much "PRESS THIS TO OPEN MENU TO OPEN ANOTHER MENUS THAT OPEN OTHER MENUS" and horrible performance then just build a desktop. Or you can get Medieval II Total War or Rome Total War which are better IMO and far more stable too.

Even if you can, Shogun 2 Total War would probably only run at 5FPS.

If you want it to look like total war 1 games OR keep the graphics and remove total war and make it mini war. Or .. sell your console upgrade PC.

Given that you have not defined any standards of graphics, framerate or stability, then yes it would be possible.

Fixed :P Also, I really don't think that the 360 can get the AI right. Hell, even Empire on the computer can't get the AI right.

How could you possibly know that when the game hasn't even come out?

It would be possible but it'd be a real bad port so you probably wouldn't want it anyway. This is why it's a good time to put together a gaming pc, the consoles are getting old and going to family based motion (Wii style) gaming. If your laptop can run Rome Total War with mods you could look into that though.
