Is it a good idea to build my own PC instead of buying a pre-ade one?

it's like putting legos together

u can just look at the inside of other people's cases and pretty much figure out where everything has to go

If you're afraid of making it yourself, then dont. Just buy a prebuilt machine and no headaches.

Self buiding gives you the experience and confidence of building a pc. Before i built mine, i bought a book about how to build a PC and did some research. I reccomend you do the same. Assembling the PC is pretty straight forward, but you do need to do your research, mainly becasue you need to know how to ensure that your chosen hardware is compatible with one another, e.g. the CPU is supported by your motherboard.

To sum it up, id recommend self buiding, but do some research and buy yourself a nice book so you can learn.

I still haven't built a pc (yet I've fiddled around in a couple and added wireless pci card to one), but I'm pretty sure i know how. It probably took me a week to learn how. It saves a lot of money and you might find it a good hobby. I definitely recommend building your own.

How about you purchase all the components you want and have a local shop assemble it for you if your scared to do it yourself. If you live near central Ohio I'll do it for you for a reasonable price. The only thing you need to do is make sure your cpu and ram is compatible with your motherboard. Example would be a lga775 intel cpu and ddr2 1066 with a Asus p5k motherboard.

I figured out it would take me a couple of hours at the very least to assemble mine, so along with the parts I paid the $50 for NCIX to do it for me. If you make more than $25 per hour and don't actually enjoy making computers its advisable to get a professional to do it (you actually profit from it!)
