Its kinda interesting to me. Especially If I see similar hardware to waht I have - and theyre overclocking me. But most of the time I don't pay attention.

On the other hand - If there were statements of how great thier system was compared to others, or how much they paid for thier stuff - I'd say they're being more than Cocky - just plain Cock :D

X~

Having your specs in your sig(and if everyone has sigs on) makes it easier than asking what specs you have because you've already in put them.

On the Corsair forums(They make RAM and PSUs and other things) they make it a requirement to put your system specifications in kind of like a contact info type thing.

Any user can click at your PC's specs with just a click of a button. Much easier than having to post it multiple times or having to ask for someone to post them because they didn't know what you needed to know.

Unless you make vitriolic anti-Intel/AMD/ATI/Nvidia/whatever posts while owning hardware from said company, I doubt anyone will say anything.

I don't think so, it's a good way to find people that have hardware you're interested in, so you can send them a PM and ask them what they think of a certain product or how they managed to pull off a certain overclock and vice versa. I just keep mine dense and text based so it doesn't take up too much space. (I haven't reworked since Gamespot went "wide" though.

I do it, it interests me what sort of hardware others have, so I'd assume others might be interested in mine too. For example, if I see a guy talking about water cooling and obviously talking out of his ass and check his specs and see no relevence to W/C I'll call him out on it. Same for very evident ATI bashing and then something like NVidea 4 lyfe or something in their sig.

They're usefull for asking questions too, like how is that part etc, since you might be thinking of upgrading to it. I've done that quite a few times.

I personally like people putting their specs in their sigs because I can see what the average specs are nowadays, and can base my parts on them. I can also take a guess on PSU requirements for various setups.

It helps if you are asking a hardware related question.

I don't think it's cocky. Like some others on here have said.. it does have a few benefits:

-You can see what parts others have used for your own potential build

-You won't even have to ask what they have!

-It's a good way to compare overclocking results with others and know who to ask for advice.

-It's fun!

I agree.

I think there's much worse things you could have in your sig besides specs.

Well, nothing wrong with it. But if you did it in caps and large font, then yes, it would be mildly cocky.

This. I've also noticed that they are helpfull with peoples game problems. I love the people who you have to fight to get their specs from to help them. They are certian the problem is caused by anything but their computer setup.

I like yours by the way.8)

I don't hate them but I do find them to be inconsistant. Once I was modded for stating my opinion about a troller who had posted continuously and let get away with it. I think because they tend to be on this persons side cause he was a consoler hating PCs in this forum. Ya think.:?

Heh... I once made a commit about grammar of a review that was quoted, by some guy. He left a link, then quoted the whole review on his post. And the guy reported me. My comment wasn't even directed to him personally... It was directed towards the review. He made the mistake of PM'ing me, to rub my nose in it, so I was able to return the favor and report that to a mod. Don't know if he got warned for sending me an insulting PM... though. Igot a warning, saying something about no points taken away... Whatever that means... As if, I really care what the level is under my handle. I'm more upset that I now have a new history link for offenses....
