Are they still enjoyable and shouldn't be missed ? or should I forget about them?

Diablo 2 and LOD (Get the expansion) has a pretty decent size community still playing online.
I suggest you play online if your going to play.
I just started BG 2 for my first play, last year. I thought it was going to be average at best, due to it's age, but it has aged well IMO. The graphics are good enough, and the game has a lot of depth to it.
I found it a lot of fun. I have to get back into eventually, (I had to stop because of I tend to get overwhelmed very easily and being new to D&D didn't help at all)
I suggest you get both. I still have BG 2 and exp installed on my computer. And I was thinking of installing D2 as well, if I can find my cds and the key.
Diablo 2 has aged extremely well, as far as I'm concerned. Visually, the game is every bit as horrible now as it was at release, but I like the animations and the visual style just works for me.
BG2 is a pretty sharp looking game when you stray out of the supported resolution territory.
And both games play as well now as they did at release - better, in D2's case.
So, in short, they look as good (bad!) as they did at release and they play as well, or better.
So, no, not too old.
As of now, I have played through BG II + Expansion twelve times, the last playthrough ended in July.
The Infinity Engine aged well, I really wish they'd revive it. As someon pointed out above, you can crank up the resolution.
Still having a blast everytime I play it. So, yes, people still play the BG series and there are still mods being released.
Don't know about D2, though - I'm not a big fan of hack&slash.
i have D2 minimized right now... and i find SP on d2 still very amusing, i'm playing with a javazon now... i'd just recommend you using the commando "/players 8", it makes it alot more enjoyable...
and i'm getting BG right now, didn't knew it was alike diablo 2 ^^

It's not. There is much more focus on party tactics due to the D&D system being used.
There is also much more roleplaying involved.

D&D it's like NWN right? not getting it anymore then, NWN is a terrible game IMO!
WOW! thank u VERY MUCH guys:D:D
I'll get Baldur's gate II as soon as possible , I have diablo II but didn't play it yet:D
both of them have stood the test of time well.every self-respecting pc gamer should do own/play them. :)
It is never too late to play thru Diablo or BG. These types of games had great graphics for the day but it all came down to storyline and gameplay. I still play thru old games like Ultima IV from time to time. Never judge a game on it's age, I have a strong feeling that people will be playing BG 1 and 2 for years to come even if they have to play them on Emulation.Kragspire
Never say die on Diablo n BG!

I can still enjoy both of these games. Though I can't enjoy Diablo 2 Online anymore. Eventually all D2 turns into online is trade. Not only that but Blizzard has been lacking on keeping their old games in order, lots of hacks again and what not and it's all getting through.
BG2 will always be a great game in my opinion.
And though there have been mixed reactions, Hellgate:London is pretty much the D2 sequel and I'm lovin' it. :D
[QUOTE="Magebane"]Of course, you'll get tons of hours in whilst playing both. If you want to really dig Baldurs Gate, play the first one though - story makes more sense.

What doesn't make sense about BG2?
I think he is suggesting to play BG1 first so that the BG2 story comes easier. It's never too late to play the best games =D
You really should play what pleases you... not what ppl think its new or old. IMO Shadows of Amn is the best rpg there is... but i play the "new" games too... if i were you i would play them but i wouldn't forget about the "new" games.

Oh right, I read his comment wrong, my bad. The intro movie for BG2 does a fairly good job of explaining the story thus far, but yes, playing the original first gives more insight and you'll also appreciate the npcs that make reappearances that much more.
It's never too late to play a classic ;)Ney_
I totally agree on that. Games don't really rely on game engine and graphics all the time (at least that doesnt apply to me). To me, what matters most is a good story line with good character development, which unfortunately is lacking in most games with stunning graphics nowadays.
OMG! I'm getting BG1 too!!
as u all said , those games still good enough , so why should I make time the issue? I'll enjot BG1 too:D
IMO, forget about Diablo 2... but BG is good... the first have already aged, but its better then Diablo2 and BG2 is still good theese days!

Make sure to get the BG2 expansion, Throne of Bhall while you're at it too. I'm pretty sure there's a battle-chest type package that contains the original, the Tales of Sword Coast expansion (doesn't impact the story, you can skip this alltogether), BG2, and ToB. Shouldn't cost more than $40 either. If you do get the original as well, download this mod here to play BG1 with the BG2 engine and ruleset. The modding community is great for the BG series btw.

both are adefinate must play
the only people that will think they are too old are graphics whores, which their opinions are completely pointless and have no value in the gaming community
Diablo 2 and its expansion are worth it. Good story, gameplay, and CGI's. Dunno about baldurs gate thoughGokuja

Diablo 2 is a brainless hack 'n' slash game with barely a story and is the most repetitive game ever made. I wouldn't even call it a real RPG. You obviously haven't played ANY games with good stories. PLEASE play Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, Planescape: Torment etc.

I think thats a little harsh.. Diablo stories are pretty amusing specially with Blizzards award winning CGI.. And it imo has one of the most addictive and fun multiplayers to date.. I agree it is repetitive if you play by your self.. But I think the games main strength is in multiplayer.
