The controls are weird, but other than that it's a decent game.BounceDKAre you playing on the PC? You must be referring to switching between plasmids and weapons, because the controls are no different from any other fps.
I am really enjoying about this game. I think it really nailed the conventions of the classic FPS (fast paced action, multiple enemies, and the weapon/plasmid upgrades aregreat) I think that the upgrades are spaced out nicely for a consistent reward system that offers up something new in regular but not overly frequent/infrequent intervals. The atmosphere is done quite nicely too. My opinion of the story is that it is rather top-notch, and interesting. Also, I enjoyed the way the plasmids could be used and the attention to detail. Set an enemy on fire and they don't just stand there, or run around wildly, but rather they do the intellegent thing and run for water, setting whoever else they run into on fire too. Zap the water with a little electricity, and it will flow through the entire pool, affecting everyone in it. Freeze a bot before hacking it and the water (in the mini-game) will flow at a slower pace. The world seems more dynamic in this respect.
That's why like the game, at least.

You haven't noticed the mouse accelleration that is the byproduct of porting the game from 360 to PC? Or that there is no walk toggle in the PC version, because the gamepad has the analog stick which allows varied speeds?

Honestly, no. At default, the game has the mouse speed at 3, but I set it a 2. Don't really notice it.Honestly, no. At default, the game has the mouse speed at 3, but I set it a 2. Don't really notice it.firefly026
Well, many people including me find it annoying. On the 360 they use cursor accelleration to compensate for the slow turning speed of the gamepad. What it does is the faster you move your stick the more distance the cursor will move. They left that gamepad feature in the PC version making the mouse movement inaccurate/unpredictable.
In your normal PC shooters when you move your mouse a specific distance on your table, your character turns the same angle no matter how fast you you move the mouse. In Bioshock, if you move the mouse 1 inch slowly you turn 45 degree, while if you flick it fast you can turn a whole friggin 180 degree.
That's what people talking about when they say the mouse is "off". It isn't as noticable to people who use the mouse at a more leisure pace.

I see, I was unaware of this up until now. Hopefully the upcoming patch will address this issue, or that 2K has at least acknowledged the problem.Well, many people including me find it annoying. Actually, that's completely false. They developed the PC and 360 versions separately. It wasn't ported from the 360 as you seem to believe. they didn't "leave the gamepad feature in the PC version" simply because they never designed the game with the gamepad in mind in the first place.

It isn't showing.[QUOTE="firefly026"][QUOTE="BounceDK"]The controls are weird, but other than that it's a decent game.BounceDKAre you playing on the PC? For some unknowned reason I understand what you mean.
Other than that I find the game spectacular.
I love it so far. The atmosphere, the plasmids, the enemies, the scripted events... there's so much to enjoy.
But, I have found it somewhat awkward switching between plasmids and weapons, the load times are ridiculous, and sometimes the game will pause for 3+ seconds at a time which can kill moments.
So overall I think it's a great game, but it's been a tad overrated most places. I'd give it a 9/10.
something ive noticed is that some people hear 'fps' and run & gun through the game, a game that strives to be unique.
I enjoyed it so far. Im taking my time, exploring areas and different tactics. There are quite a bit of variety and places you have to go back to to unlock(rooms and whatnot).
But I do agree with some of you, it doesnt quite live up to the hype.....
I really didn't find the game amazing from the experience I had. It was unique but it was lacking intensity for me and it just felt like I was forcing myself sometimes to enjoy the game. Another come and go experience for me. IMO I thought it was overscored and I don't think it should win GOTY at all. Shouldn't even be nominated.

Don't believe everything they say. Why don't you go and find out for yourself if this mouse acceleration as I described is there or not? I can't think of any other PC shooters which has acceleration.
Also, everyone knows the 360 is the leading developing platform for Bioshock.
