When I built my PC, I bought Crysis: Maximum Edition. It includes both Crysis and CrysisWarhead. I've played both games multiple times and it seems to me that Crysis Warhead is the better looking of the two. The color saturation and texture work seem better, in my opinion. The colors seem a bit more vivid and the textures seem more crisp and detailed. Warhead also uses the blur filter much more effectively than Crysis. Does anyone else agree? Or, am I spewing nonsense because both games look exactly the same?

Look the same to me, though if I stare enough I think the original looks nicer especially in the first comparison. But eh. That's just me.

Warhead does have slightly improved graphics, also its more optimised so it runs a bit better.

It does look better because crytek set out to make it look better and run smoother.

Well, they should have gone back and done the same for the original Crysis.

It does look better but it is a much more confined experiance. Warhead does not have that whole open island thing. Thats why I think they were able to improve graphics and performance.

Modders have already done that for us. I just use CCC it gave me around 20fps increase and looks much better

Warhead is much more linear compared to the original Crysis.

Speaking of CCC, does anyone know why I get "Crysis has stopped working" msg when I try to run the game? This doesn't happen when the mod is not installed.

Crysis Warhead has:

-Better particle effects (explosions).

-A more warm color filter.

-Better performance.

-Much better alien A.I.

But lacks compared to Crysis in some areas:

-Much short rendering distance (aka: poping in front of your face).

-Worse shaders used in the frozen maps.

-More linear and smaller maps.

Anyway: you can edit the configuration to reduce the poping, but can't enhance the shaders or the size of the maps in the same way.

Warhead is indeed more beautiful and it pretty much requires the same resources as the original.

I wasn't too fond of the swamp either. It also gave a frame rate hit while looking worse than either forests or ice levels. I also liked the times of day/night in Crysis better than Warhead.

To be honest it just looks like warhead has more color saturation, the original looks more real IMO.

Any help is highly appreiated.

I dunno. Both games run fine on my PC, but for some reason Warhead has some serious issues with the draw distance. Especially small plants and grass may pop up when I'm just 5 meters away from them. Apparently this is a fairly common issue that can be solved by typing something into the console, but I have yet to try it.

^ What he said.

If you compare the two unmodded, Warhead wins. But Warhead isn't moddable like Crysis, so you can make Crysis look a lot better with mods.

All i can say is have you got the latest patches when you installed the CCC mod? Im not sure if this is needed but i had them installed. Have you tried reinstalling crysis and installing the CCC mod? Have you got any other mods installed or have changed something in the Config file? Have you tried opening crysis from the installed destination? Like Bin64 if your using 6bit or Bin32 for 32bit. There is like a regular crysis icon or crysis64 icon try them all. I can't say whats mine worked for me with no problems. Good luck.

What mod are you using? I just started playing crysis a few days ago. What are some good mods to make it looks better? What are some good mods to improve performance? What are some good mods to do both? lol

The CCC mod does both, better performance and makes it look better.

One more thing about Crysis that I liked better than Warhead were the last bosses. When the last boss exploded in Warhead, my frame rates dipped down into the low teens, perhaps into single digits. I never had that problem with Crysis. Worst case maybe mid 20's with the majority of the time in the mid 30's and low 40's.

Hmmm. Did I say low teens and single digits? Not today though. It's still in the teens though

I think it's amazing that so many people bought the game even though most of them couldn't run it.
