If the gameplay is too slow for you, you might want to check out Halo or Call of Duty. :)

TC games are supposed to be a slower paced genre. That being said, a lot of console port-i-tus has infected the games and make them less reliant on mission planning and more on firepower. The original Raven Shield and earlier games were slower. If you think they are still too slow, you ought to play Unreal or a game that is all about action.

The original Tom Clancy Rainbow Six games were the epitome of tactical IMO. The last trully tactical shooter was Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield.

they certainly were a lot better in the past, but they're still pretty good. not tactical but they're good for some action. i hated graw 1, so i won't comment on that series, but the vegas series is fun to play.

We'll have to see about Endwar too. It should be cool to command your troops by using a mic. How much more tactical can a game really get?

ok you cant just make a statement like tom clancy's games suck without giving Substantial Proof..my question is how many tom clancy games have you played?have you completed the whole splinter cell series??what about the rainbow six series??what about graw??played any of them??if you have played all these games and you still think his games suck then fine thats fair enough..but if you are one of those who have no idea what his games are all about then you shouldn't be complaining..ohh by the way most of these games come under tactical shooters and stealth shooters/action/adventure(??)games..so they are bound to be a little slow..no wait slow is not the word..you are bound to use your brains while playing these kind of games..they are definately not one of those mindless shooters..

I loved the old Ghost Recon games and Rainbow6: Rogue Spear alot.

The splinter Cell games where good fun to (no amazing but still fun).

I also enjoyed GRAW2 and Vegas 2 (GRAW1 and Vegas 1 not so much).

Ive always been a fan of tactical shooters, so usually enjoy the clancy games (although they are not quite as tactical as they once where, they are still somewhat more tactical then other shooters out there)

I've yet to play one that I personally liked, though I objectively do think the older ones were good games (unlike the more recent ones, which are bastardized parodies of their predecessors from what I've played of them).

I think you should stick solely to run n' gun games that hardly require planning ahead. That being said, Tom Clancy games are one of the most tactical FPS games i have ever played, starting with Raven Shield. You have to think two steps ahead rather than just the locate-aim-spray tactics. Lockdown was terrible, but Vegas 1&2 made up for that. GRAW 2 was frustratingly challenging. And Endwar(wish it was an FPS) is gonna be awesome. But i'm putting my judgement on hold for HAWX(had a bad experience with LOMAC).

The only Tom Clancy games i didn't like was GRAW and GRAW2. I tried really hard to like both, but the AI is so... ridiculously... unbelievably.... STUPID, it just hurts. And they both make you feel so insignificant and your mission so useless, as if it's so remote from everything that no one really cares what's going on there anyway.

The rest of the games going back all the way to the first Rainbow6 were fantastic (with the exception of Chaos Theory, haven't played that one myself so can't say).

My favorite thing to do in Rainbow Six is to set up attack plans that involve one of my team members throwing a grenade into a room and then ordering my other teams into the room. Then someone yells, "Murphy murphy" (clearly referring to Murphy's law) and then it blows up. That's usually the point that I shut the game off and go watch tv.

I don't think they're terrible. But, like his books, its been a while since they were original. Hopefully, HAWX and EndWar can end that. To be honest though, I wish the Splinter Cell series would develop some deep plots, kind of like Metal Gear Solid series. Clearly, it can't be the same. But SC feels like the original game to me.

I've only played the first splinter cell game which I though was awesome, slow paced yes..but what do you expect when the games about stealth. Been meaning to buy the others in ther series. As for the other Tom Clancy games, never played them before.so I can't really say if their terrible or not. They have generally been well reviewed. Probably just don't suit your taste.

I would have, but I didn't see that option in the planning layout editor thingy. I only saw stuff like flashbang, grenade, and stuff like that.

I have enjoyed all the Splinter Cell games, but none of them I thought were exceptionally great. I was always disappointed how it didn't make enough use out of the special abilities and gadgetry. Example, it was unlike Thief 1 and 2 (but totally missing in Deadly Shadows) where the user had countless opportunities to use the rope/vine arrows. In the Splinter Cell games, I could probably count on one hand how many opportunities Fisher had to slide down a rope (which was also unfortunately always fixed.) Instead, the SC games always evolved from a psuedo-stealth action game to almost a pure assault action game by the end. SC game stories were all forgettable and had such anticlimatic endings. That's a rather big sin considering that Tom Clancy is a famous author of spy thriller books.

Tactical shooters are not for everyone. They are for those who want more then a Mario Brothers version of a first person shooter. You need to stick with your Spray and Prey, No Skill shooters like Call of Duty, Crysis and So on 1Kalli1. Leave the TC's to the big boys :)

I always wanted to like the old Raven Shield games, but they were so difficult to the point of silliness. The game expected you to have the ability to see into the future and see things on the tactical map that are not visible in advance. I get the general idea with the realism thing, but as a game it was an excercise in sheer frustration. It was rather pointless to plan ahead because nothing was predictable the way the enemies would position themselves. And one shot would kill you instantly making you restart the mission from the very beginning each time. I like a good challenge. But not when I feel I haven't been supplied with the right tools, and squad mates that actually help rather than burden me.

The Tom Clancy game franchise was great, right up until the time they started porting them from consoles (Splinter Cell, GRAW, Lockdown, Vegas).

The Ghost Recon and Rainbow series were pretty much the best tactical shooters ever. Pity that they have now dumbed them down into console friendly frag fests.
