Is it me or is minecraft.net down?

I was trying to play multyplayer on my friend's server,but connecting was taking forever, and then it said it couldn't connect to minecraft.net. Is minecraft down? If so, is it me or everyone?

Is it the website that is down or is the client giving you guys this error? If its the client, i might be able to help. just maybe though.

to fix the client error some people say you can go to the website itself and it will show you logged in and you just log out. or you can log in and then log out from the website, try that. It happened to me once and i guess it worked. it doesnt seem like it would. but go ahead and give it a try :)
