Is it normal to have these USB transfer speeds?

I am transferring some video files to a flash drive, and the transfer rate is about 2.6 to 2.8 MB/sec. I thought this should be much faster.

Windows 7

quad-core @ 3.0 Ghz

6 GB Ram

gtx 260

Could a Logisys PSU be the problem? Everything else seems to be running fine off my PSU, but just wondering.

Are you running it through a usb extension cable? I've found that for whatever reason those things sometimes slow down transfer speeds.

it depends whetehr is a cheap USB stick that may actually have that limit for transfer rate, or if its an old one it may be dying, but I also have a 8gb usb stick thats 1.5 years old and did a lot of data transfers on it and it used to transfer with about 7-9MB/s now it barelly goes above 3MB/s. It just degraded over time.

USB thumb drive? If so, that's not untypical.
