Hey. I really don't know too much at all about computers, other than that I love there games. I have an Alienware Aurora m9700 laptop my dad got me for a graduation present back in 07. I havent really done anything to improve it's gaming capabilities, but lately I've become interested in possibly trying to get it to run good looking games (as of right now it doesn't do to well at all running games at their highest settings). I was just wondering.. Is a laptop capable of running games like Crisis and such? And If anyone could give me any suggestions on how to start making my laptop better, I would appreciate it. Again im not all that great with computers, so I might not understand all the technical lingo.
When I first got cod4 I played it on my school-issued laptop surprisingly well, but it would freeze after two to three hours due to heat. I'm sure you wouldn't want to have to put up with that sort of thing. Laptops are also more expensive component-for-component than an actual desktop gaming pc.
If by "insane" you mean "on high" then usually no, unless you have the latest most expensive model around. I've got a Dell 17" laptop from 2 yrs ago that I use to play Crysis on medium. At the time it was a really powerful model, and it still looks good enough for me. I've also installed Fallout 3 on it and it looks pretty good.
