My neighbor gave me an old 320GB internal hard drive and I was wondering if I could use it with my current 500GB internal hard drive. He said it might have vista on it, but he's not quite sure. Also, if I can use it, how would I go about doing so? I know how to physically place it in the case, but I'm not sure about the software component of setting it up. Thank you in advance!

it's just plug in play your current drive will continue to be the drive you boot off of and the second drive will be for data just reformat the 2nd drive to clear all the data on it.

even if you set it as your boot drive you won't be able to use vista. it will detect that it is not in it's original system and you will need to activate it again.

Put drive in pc.

Connect power and sata cables.

Go to disk manager in windows.

Format it to ntfs.

Enjoy your new drive.
