...for $600-$700 that can run Bioshock? I'm thinking about getting more into PC gaming, but as you can tell I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to buying/building a decent gaming PC. ^^;

Building a PC from scratch is usually good for overclocking. If your not interested in overclocking then this pc is reccomended because I have personal experience with it and its VERY positive, just upgrade the video card

Building would be your best choice. That HP isn't bad for the price, but it's a bit weak in the processor department, and would need a GPU.

As long as you don't need a monitor, keyboard, speakers, and mouse it's entirely possible to build a rig that should be able to handle Bioshock reasonably well on that budget. If you do need one, you're going to really be pushing things. It's also worth pointing out that if you don't spend around $1k-$1.2k on a rig it's not going to look better than your Xbox 360 (if you have one), so if your idea is to get the game looking better than the 360, you're out of luck on your budget.

I also recommended in building a PC, in order to collect all the best thing in one PC.

In addition if you want to upgrade it later you can change any part on it easily.

(also if there a part get damage and you need to replaced (using the warranty) you have only to take that part, but in the un-build PC you have to take the whole PC).
