I want to get Bioshock. Is this game still well talked about? I decided to get this, because I never really owned a single player game and all i have are online games so i'm giving this a try. I read reviews about the game saying it's awesome and all, but I also read reviews saying it's difficult to install because of the rookits and Securom. Now I always hated Battlefield 2 for it's damn Punkbstr and imagine how I would feel with the Securom. Is this really a bad thing or not?

Bioshock was a great experience. And Im currently working through it a second time and taking more advantage of the research camera and shooting for the evil ending. Atmospherically one of the best games I have ever played in over 25+ years of gaming (yeah Im old). You will enjoy it very much and if you dont I couldnt even comprehend why.

The Rootkits issue was over-blown. Get the game. One hell of an experience.

Not at all. As long as you know that you will most likely only play it once. I played it once and have no reason to play it again. I bought the Collector's Edition as well and plan on selling it in the near future to try and get back some of the money I wasted.

It is a decent game, worth playing once. Not worth much else.

Most single player games only last once turn....unless they have multiplayer. I suck at multiplayer so I don't really care about that. Bioshock is a great game. I don't mind the DRM. All it does is prevent you from installing it on lots of PCs. It still allows you several copies. It's not nearly as invasive as that other one that actually patched into the CD/DVD write routines (can't remember the name).

Not true at all. Many older singleplayer shooters have amazing replay value. Even BioShock's predecessor System Shock 2 has pretty high replay value (because you actually get to customize your player instead of being given the illusion that you can). Most games these days are designed to be too cinematic and leave nothing up to the player anymore. Go back in time about 5 - 10 years and you'll find a plethora of games with hearty singleplayers that are quite replayable.

To the poster that initiated this thread: What do you mean, "is it too late to get Bioshock?" It was just released a couple of months ago, so I'm not really certain where you're coming from with that question.

Anyway, the sound and music are great. I love the big band era of music from the USA during the 1930s and 40s. The atmospheric sounds are convincing as well. All told, I love the overall atmosphere of Bioshock. The setting is pretty original for fps games.

My only gripe is that when it comes down to gameplay, it's just another fps where you kill zombies for the most part. You have your mana or magic here, renamed "plasmids". And you have your health bar. You run around killing mindless mutations and collect health and magic boosts. That's all the game is, when you come down to it.

Despite it's flaws, I'd still purchase it if I were you. Especially if it's going on sale at Bestbuy.

No way. Bioshock is a great single-player game that IMO will be a great game to showcase how good and fun single player games can be playing by yourself!
