Right now I'm installing the old good games I used to play when I was really young ( 7 years old + ) and I came across my old Diablo 2 CD's including the expansion. Im playing Starcraft again coz i forgot the storyline and because playing Blizzards old games make me feel so excited, I want to install Diablo 2 again, last time I played was when I reached level 10 or something, so basically I haven't even scratched the game.

Is it too late to play Diablo 2 again? Or will I be able to enjoy Diablo 2 while keeping up with the new games of 09?

It's definitely not too late. I started again several weeks ago; there are slightly fewer online games, but still more than enough to always find things to do or people to socialize with.

But remember to install LoD, so your character can be an expansion character.

yea but what class would you recommend for a fun and challenging game? Last time i always picked the barbarian because all i knew at that time was meleeing, but now ive played WoW and quite enjoy the Warlock class. Should I go for Necromancer?

If you want Necromancer, make a Skeleton Necromancer.. They are arguably cheap to make with the most expensive item being Enigma (which makes you a god). My skeletonmancer was able to solo Uber Tristrem in less than 7 to 10 mins. IDK when you played but the game got a whole HELLUVA alot harder past 1.09

I also thought about trying out Diablo, so I bought Diablo 2 and LOD for good measure. I'm having trouble installing it however. The 2 games come with instruction manuals and 1 CD each, and when I insert it into my drive it works fine. However when it starts installing it ask for my Play CD...

Because I only have 1 CD for each game, which is the install CD, I cannot insert the play disc because it isnt there. I bought the games off Amazon. What should I do? Because I cannot install either game at all.

Diablo 2 has 3 discs, only LoD has 1 disc. Don't worry, register your game if you still have the s/n and you can dl the game on the blizzard store.

I'm just wondering, I have a 21" widescreen LCD, and I really don't want to play it at 800x600. The pixels will be the size of my thumb! Is there any way, fix or hack to play it in widescreen? I've looked on the internet but there don't seem to be many workeable fixes. Anyone here know of one?

No widescreen, just windowed, that's the best you can manage :( sadly that's what made me quit it after I recently started it again.

It really depends. While the game itself if fulling alive, the trend of gaming has changed quite a bit after some ten years after Diablo II's release. Games today tend to have a really heavy focus on variety and scale, while the games back then are more focused towards doing one particular thing right. In the case of Diablo II, that focus is on a superb sense of character developement and a simple but highly addictive action routine. For gamers who began gaming somewhere around the past three years, Diablo II will most likely feel dated and hard to endure. It doesn't mean that Diablo II has died, it just means that for those gamers who missed the heavy-grinding perioud of the 90s, you might have missed to learn the ability to fully enjoy this game now.

Check for a program called "D3D windower", it shrinks games into window form. It doesn't work for all games, but it does work with Diablo II last time I checked

No. In fact, I was just playing for a bit recently.

By the way, Blizzard has this nifty feature now where you can register most of you Blizzard CD keys and then you can download your games from them any time you want. (The latest patches in the games allow you to run them with no discs.) They don't exactly go out of their way to let people know about it, so a lot of people don't.

No its not too late at all. My only warning for you is don't use maphack! i thought that blizzard had stopped moderating this game, but i was banned with 20,000 others a year ago for map hacking.

I made a new amazon a couple of months back, the game is still awesome. Its hard not to get addicted to it once u make a new character and i play it in SP xD, i didnt have internet back in 2000 when i played so SP was the only way to go and i got used to it XD. I feel like making a Hammerdin i never had one of those.

Diablo II accounts are wiped after 90 days of inactivity anyway, so you just have to make a new one. Diablo II allows you to make as many accounts as you want. They aren't tied to your CD key or anything, as far as I know. (Only one person can be logged in with a game registered with a particular CD key at the same time though.)
