is it worth buying arma II from the steam sale if the stand alone expansion

The expanison is about to come is it worth purchasing the orginal since the expansion is stand alone?

Arma 2 is a decent game by itself, although I cant say anything about multiplayer, because the Youtube videos have put me off, its a pretty good Singleplayer game, Its worth it just for the Zombie mods.

try the demo on steam. I didnt really like it personnaly. The scripted speech is tottaly uninspired, but the realistic military feel is pretty cool. I would opt for Flashpoint 2 over this but same kind of experience.
