This question has been on my mind for sometime. when oblivon released i didn't have a gaming rig to play it on so i ended up getting on for the 360. Year's pass and i finally upgrade my PC and officialy entered into the world of PC gaming. Now i know the game has alot of mod support and with it can pretty much change the entire game from the ground up,but do any of you think it's worth rebuying the game for the PC when i've already spent 40-60 hours playing it on the 360?

If you haven't played Morrowind, that might be a better option. If Oblivion would be worth it really depends on how big a fan you are and if you're keen to spend another 40-60 hours with the game if you got a lot of new content, items, features and what have you.

Yes, it's worth it, because there's three mods by Kivan which fix somewhere around 10,000 bugs and glitches that were left after the last Bethesda patch. But you do have to have the game patched with the last one for those those mods to work.

Yes, it is absolutely worth it. 40-60 hours is barely scratching the surface of Oblivion, especially when you factor in all the official DLC and the hundreds of amazing mods available, and half the fun really comes from replaying the game and experimenting with different types of characters. I recommend buying the GOTY Edition Deluxe on Steam, which includes all the offical DLC as well as both expansions.

But don't take my word for it, have a look at these screenshots from my modded game:

I'd say "worth it" is clearly an understatement. And personally, I stopped counting at about 400 hours. :)

I always recommend getting popular RPGs on both platforms as they are entirely different experiences. Most RPGs see heavy modding on PCs, whereas the console is mostly a true to the developer's design experience.

If you enjoyed it a lot on 360, you'll probably enjoy it even more on PC. There's a ridiculous amount of mods. I love the one that has shield bash, kick, and slow-mo decapitations/finishers. Although, I don't really enjoy oblivion all that much. It's too unfocused and repetitive.

Yes, definitely! It'll take a while though to understand how mods work and how to get 20 mods to work with the other 20 mods so go easy on them. :) But its worth it. To keep things simple, just start with graphic enhancement mods or mods that adds a few new items/weapons/armor etc etc.

Even if you didn't have the 360 version, I wouldn't recommend buying Oblivion for any platform. Well, I never did play the mobile version- that might be good. However, since you are asking this question, it appears that you (somehow) found enjoyment out of the game. I'm sure you can find enough mod-only content to justify $20 in that case.

I have both. The PC version is definitely superior, though the gamepad is fun to use sometimes. There are many many good mods that fix little issues with the game, and you can having it running smoother and looking better on the PC :)

There are so many bloody mods, and modders keep on releasing them and never understand what "rest" means. They forced me to replay the game for 100-120 hours every several months. Fortunately, since Fallout 3's release I have managed to not replay the Elder Scrolls. Nowadays I'm forced by the awesome FO3 mods to replay FO3 for 100-120 hours every several months.

It definetely is. With mods it's infinetely big, and some of the user-created quests are better than any of Bethesda's (e.g. Gates to Aesgaard ep1 & 2).

Or you could just get it on the PC, and playthrough with no mods? ... Then on the second playthrough, mod the hell out of it.

I just have the basic version of the game from when I bought it back in 2006. For that price I may pick this up for the expansions.

To be honest, I'm not even sure what I did with the disc or the cd-key it's been so long.

Considering there are plenty of usermade mods to enhance the experience, I'd say yes.

Put it this way, If you don't buy it on PC, a giant fist will come out of your screen and punch you in the head. Do you really want to risk it? DO YOU?

Definitely pick it up on PC. Especially since the steam sale has it for $6.79. Looks far better on PC and there are a huge number of high-quality mods out there. Everything from visual overhauls, custom weapons/armor, quests, zones, UI mods and full blown storylines.

The only thing I'd miss about having it on console is sitting in a nice comfy recliner with a controller.

Naw. Game has a lot of modding support but adding more than a few large mods will require you to do a lot of reading and you'll have to learn a lot how modding Oblivion works. I beat the game first on PC and modded it later, but modding really wasn't enough to hold my interest. Even just recently I thought it would be cool to go back and mod the game, but after six hours of modding, I got bored before I could even get a game going.

You don't need to mod to get mods. If you are saying that spent six hours trying to install mods, well... *coughs*

Thanks for the heads up on the Steam sale, I purchased it a few minutes ago. I got the deluxe editon for $8.49. I played it when it first came out on the xbox,

with what I am reading about the mods and the modding community from this thread, it looks like I may have a better experience than my already enjoyable

memories from playing the game originally.
