Is it worth getting a new processor right now?

I have a Q6600. Would the amount of performance increase that I get out of the newer processors be worth the change?

I agree. It's a pretty decent Quad and there'd be no reason to upgrade it unless you were going 2.8+ or i7.

Hi, i also have a question. What do you guys think about the core 2 duo E6600. I know it's an old processor now but would i really benefit from an upgrade? I currently have it overclocked to 3.2GHz. Would i notice a dramatic increase in gaming performance? ( gaming is what my pc is mainly used for). For example, if i upgraded to an E8500.

Albo.

No not really the e6600 is like a Q6600 without the two extra cores. Until you need a quad to run games then I would hang on to your cpu awhile longer.

Thanks for the reply. I'll be sticking with the e6600 for the foreseeable future.
