I put a good 50 hours into the game and had a great time. If you wanna wait a whole year for an ultimate edition be my guest, but the game will be old news at that point.
I'd wait until it's on sale during steam sales or the Ultimate Edition like Origins. I bought the game $60 on launch, so far I'm not really liken it. The story has a slow pace.
Characters are okay, still sad there's no character like Morrigan. The art design is flawed compared to the first. The environments are lol worthy, since you'll see the same destinations more than ten times.
This is coming from someone who invested more than 300 hours into Dragon Age: Origins and I'd say DA2 is disappointing in terms of improving the series.
It's a very good game. It lacks some of the minute detail of Origins, but it still plays very well and has high quality characters. It has received a lot of hate, but much of it is unjustified.
If you're looking for a game to play, I'd say get it - You can put a lot of time into it (and it's less of a slog than DA:O). If you have other games taking up your time, then waiting may be a better bet.
I feel that dragon age 2 has certain aspects better than DAO, not least of all is the fact that your character is voiced, which just makes him/her more "real" imo.
Also I relate more to the trying to survive aspect of the game, rather than being the saviour of the world etc...
Go for it I only get Bioware games for the story and gameplay not for the graphics like the graphic whores that's out there.HekynnThere is a story in DA2? The gameplay is average also and the story flow is god awful... Kinda like a first year student made the story. And about the voiced part... At the penalty of even less text, choices? I would rather have a character that is not voiced =(
As others have said, save your cash and wait till they have finished trying to milk the game for every little penny they can with DLC. That's what the smart gamer does these days.
there werent really any bugs to speak of in my time with the ps3 version. it probably averaged one freeze per playthrough and there was a minor quest that didnt log itself as complete (it still let me see the conclusion and get my reward, so its not a bother). the only serious thing it terms of performance was the frequency of the loading screens. even then, that may not even be an issue depending on your hardware.
if you want all the dlc that will inevitably release then you can wait for a package deal. otherwise, its a complete game right now.
I enjoyed my time with it, not as good as origins but I still really liked the story, dialogue and characters. The combat was good to along with it running well.
I did hate the re-use of environments though alot.
Still it lasted me around 35-40 hours and had a fun time playing it, besides the variety of areas being small and missing the iso view.
Still bioware magic as far as the story, dialogue and what not go, just there are not as many rpg elements, kind of what ME2 did to ME1. Still a fun game but could have been better.
Not Biowares best game thats forsure but I still enjoyed it as much as ME2 and Jade Empire, which are two other Bioware games that are more action orented then rpg oriented but still fun games.
8.5/10 for me for DA2 and 9.5/10 for me for Origins.
This. I'd like to add that I put in 45 hours, Rogue. I'm on my second-playthrough as 2-handed warrior. It's worth it.I put a good 50 hours into the game and had a great time. If you wanna wait a whole year for an ultimate edition be my guest, but the game will be old news at that point.

It currently goes for $50 (if you know where to look), but I'm waiting for 2 things: a patch and a drop to $40. When they both happen, I'm in.
What difference does that make? Still the same, exact game. Time doesn't really change it, except for patches which improve upon it.I put a good 50 hours into the game and had a great time. If we look at Dragon Age Origins to get all the DLC would cost you £61 that is on top of the £30 you already spent on the game. So to get the full saga you would have to spend nearly £100. Alternatively you just had to wait a bit and buy Dragon Age Origins Ultimate for around £30.
I think it is safe to assume that Dragon Age 2 will be even worse for DLC and you could end up spending nearly £100 on the DLC alone. So as I said it makes sense to wait for the Ultimate Edition.
There are no news about a ultimate edition but one could guess that there would be one at some point atleast. But hey if there is none atleast you can get DA2 from the bargain bin... The price is lowering quiet fast. DAO is the longer game. Even with the roof ninjas this game is alot shorter (they are basicly there to waste your time). Will there be an Ultimate edition? Also, which is a longer game: DA2 or the first one?

I am going to be honest, I spent alot of time defending this game from the haters, but after 6 hrs I havent been able to bring myself to play anymore, The story and characters i couldnt care less about, so all it really seems like is one fight to the other. I dont think I will ever finish it, I have it on steam, so I will have it forever, but if it was a console game I would have traded it in along time ago.
Dont buy it , simple as that... Bioware latetly losing its sharp , dunno whats happening . Mass effect 2 : Arrival 5.0 Dragon Age 2 : 7.9 ( 8 in gamespot) SW:TOR : is not looking so good etc Dunno what to say , one of my best games this gen is ME2. Bioware is a beast when it comes to RPGs. But for a reason dont see to deliver epicness anytime soon ( except maybe ME3). Should i blame EA? Maybe... We will see. If i was you , i would wait for price drop. Game is not good , play the demo.^^

just beat this game today on nightmare difficulty
good game. imo, better in term of gameplay than origin...
but you really can't compare the story and characters with origin... it' like comparing iron with gold...
my advice, wait till next patch and suitable price.. be patient...
How's the performance with DX11 on Nvidia GPU's? I heard there were some gigantic issues with Nvidia GPU's.
WITH THE BETA NVIDIA 270.XX the problems are gone was running 100fps, but i rolled bact to the 266.xx because of scaling issuesHow's the performance with DX11 on Nvidia GPU's? I heard there were some gigantic issues with Nvidia GPU's.

Was the worst bioware game ive ever played..Ive played them all also..The game lacked what is dungeon and dragons..It lacked heart, it lacked fat loot..Simply put they made you control one character hated that..You can only equipped yourself with the best loot lame..Its like making diablo with no loot drops..Game just sucked big time..Fealt like i was basically falling asleep playing..No whats wrong with this picture..Enjoyed Alpha protocol more than dragon age 2..Kind of sad isnt it..How ever ap had a better story an was kind of fun..This was neither..Shame also normally i love bioware games..Ill have to be very careful on da3 an look at every thing before i even buy it..Thats how disgusted with this game i am..Want to no how bad..Had more fun with gothic 4..Kozzy ya i said that because i did rofl...They took the fun that was dragon age origins an whipped the slate clean..The whole dragon scale quest was great in dao..What was great about this crap nothing..Sorry this is how i feel and how let down bioware did this time around..Hope they read this also..Because they deserve every bit of criticism that they get..If they do read this..Bioware give us more of dragon age origins only more of it and not less..Dont let ea rush da3 also..
If you loved DAO for its lore and story, I say get it. The storytelling and writing were excellent imo. Also graphics, especially character models, are a lot sharper this time around. There are a few bugs I ran into during my playthrough and BioWare is planning on fixing those issues in a few days. I just might start another playthrough with a different class once the patch is out.

I agree. I enjoyed DA2 a lot, as the combat was better than Origins. Finally, a mage uses his staff like a real weapon, and he doesn't look like he's trying to pitch a baseball when casting spells.
And a rogue character is awesome- a real backstab, and if you specialize in Assassin you're nearly unstoppable.:D
If you have played Dragon Age origins, and loved it I would advice you to wait/skipuntill this DAII gets on sale.
If you hated dragon age origins and thought it was a shame with all the talking and tactical battles, I would say go for it with a but.
- this game has less story, and its not really something you have to "get into", there is a lot of "arcadeish" battles as well.
But, (here it comes) even if you are more into arcadeish battle and a story as an excuse to kill something (kinda like a Dolph Lundgren movie), its still not nearly as good as otherarcade action games out there, like for instance : ME2 orAssassins Creed.
