Just get the 8800GTS (G92). It's faster in most situations, and is so close to the gtx when it does lose (usually 5% tops) it doest really warrant spending another $150-200 on a gtx. Plus, the 8800GTS G92 uses 65nm process technology, so it uses less power, and gives off less heat. (The 8800gtx is based ona 90nm g80 core)

I got the 8800GTS, or almost 200 bucks less, and it runs pretty well, crysis is on high, except shadows and postprocessing. I get a stable framerate though, usually 30fps, 25fps, sometimes, but hey. I need a new processor next year, thats the oldest part in my computer right now.

Yeah, and also make sure you get EVGA. If you register, you can be eligible for the step up plan, and the 9800 gx2, 9800gt, and 9800gtx are right around the corner. (The step up plan lets you send in your card, and pay the difference between what you paid and what the new card costs.) However, the 9800's are still based on the g92 I believe, so theyre not going to have breakthrough performance like the 8 series did over the 7 (that is, if speculation is correct.)

But either way, if the 8800gtx is in your budget, you can probably just get an 8800gts 512MB, then step up to a 9800gx2 (comes out this month I think) which is supposed to be 30% faster than the 8800ultra.

I was looking into that program as well and had some questions on it. What can i say , ima girl we look for bargains :P

Seriously though , If i wait to buy the card from eVGA till they announce the 9 series coming will the step up program still apply? And if it does canI return the new 9 series after stepping up Un-opened within 30 days for a Money refund? I ask cause i dont really like eVGA.

So , basically I'll have a 8 series i can use for a bit then step up , not open the new 9 series , get a full refund then buy the Brand i want.

What you're asking is kinda not making any since. But if I'm right I'll try to word it as to what I think you're trying to say. You're trying to buy an 8 series card then step up to an 9 series card then try to get a refund. That's not gonna work, after you step up you can't get a refund..meaning it's final. Wether the product is unopened or open. Again..once you step-up it's final no refund no nothin. Only a lifetime warranty.
