If you loved the first one your going to enjoy the sequel too. Kotor 2 was a bit rushed out but its still a good game and worth playing.himerazYup. Even though it was nowhere near the quality of the first one, KotOR II was still a solid game. And if you loved the first one, you'll at least like the second one.
Before you play it
-Be evil, its much better
-Wait for it to be completed by the modders, I believe they are beta testing it now.Â
Although the game is rushed it still has some great well written moments. Its a sad trend that Obsidian seems to be going the way of Troika and Black Isle by releasing buggy unfinished and unpotimized games. Hopefully SEGA is a better publisher than Interplay, Atari and Lucas Arts.

In my opinion, KotOR 2 was horrible, and was nowhere near the quality of the first game. The story felt like it had been pieced together as the developers went along, then they ran themselves into a corner and used a couple of stupid plot devices that didn't fit the subject matter at all. Tack on a horrible non-ending, and you have a game!
they also did a horrible job on character development. None of the characters in the game are particularly interesting or memorable. Even the characters that were reused for the sequel don't seem right; HK-47 is nowhere near as funny or oddly loveable, and Canderous(a.k.a. Mandalore) doesn't have as much personality.
A big reason for the poor character development is the only significant gameplay difference in II: the influence system. Basically, the more you talk to your party members, the more "influence" you have with them. this means that if you talk to any of your party members enough, they will literally do whatever you tell them. This makes for wishy-washy characters that don't have any personality to speak of.
The glitches get thrown around alot, and there are alot of them. Some even render certain side-quests unplayable.
Aside from the horribly edited ending/story (courtesy of Lucasarts) which will be fixed in a few months, KOTOR 2 was superior to the first game in every way.
You'll probably enjoy the game, and if you're really bothered by the ending, just wait until Team Gizka's mod is released.Â
KOTOR2 is a decent game. If you loved the first one as much as I did, you should definately give it a shot. Just don't expect a story that's quite as solid.

If you're more interested in gameplay than the star wars setting, try Jade Empire. It's really freakin' good.Â
I agree with most of the posters here. KOTOR 1 was outstanding. KOTOR 2 was good. I really liked the middle parts. The start was somewhat boring. I hate the plot device used. That you are a Jedi but you forgot. How lame is that? just so you dont get a lightsaber and force powers at the start. And I also agree that the ending was SO disappointing. Its SO LAME and is the same whether you chose light or dark side. WHATS THE POINT IN CHOOSING THEN????? You will like the middle parts just don't expect any satisfaction at the end.rlc-madcatNo way.. There's no way you still use dial-up. I love KOTOR1, and I tried to get into number 2, but I find myself bored by anything but the story(especially since I lost my HDD and I have to go through a bunch of crap again), and I did pay for it, but can't play it.. So I think I'm going to 1. When I install my new comp, put the graphics waay up and maybe it'll be so pretty I'll want to play through the parts again with a new refreshed outlook! or 2. Chances are I'll just put a bunch of cheats in the game, and play through for purposes of the storyline : p I loved KOTOR 1 storyline, very deep choices, and despite the extreme 'official' sense of good and evil they have in the Star Wars universe, it still deepened the sense to the point that it's realistically just multiple points of view, and not really inherently evil, just.. really really different and in that world it didn't work too good, with all the betrayal and stuff.. But the sith die of betrayal happily because that was sorta their goal! To train someone awesome at betraying until they betrayed themselves! Or something.. See, it's deep! I liked it : p
KOTOR 2 took itself way too seriously and totally lost touch with Star Wars feel. I don't think it is really that great. It's a good game and has a decent production value, but it wraps itself around the pseudo-philosophical laments to the ambiguity of morality, as if the guy who wrote the story just had a divorce. When you use that element in Max Payne in small doze here and there, that works great. In Star Wars? That's the equivalent of listening to Santa talking about the rise of Fundamentalism.yianI think it works because the KOTOR series is so far removed from the films in the first place. It's four thousand years before episode 1. That's such a long time that it's almost irrelevant. Remove the titles Jedi and Sith and it's not even Star Wars anymore, it's just a space opera and then you don't have to worry about any ties to previous material.
Live dangerously and take a chance. Worst that could happen is you're out ten bucks. The people who hate it so much might want to get rid of their disks since it is just so horrible, and then you're only out postage.
I really like KOTOR II and I thought it had a great Star Wars feel to it. I loved the music, atmosphere, and the feeling of lonliness in the game. While it did have one of the worst endings of all time in computer game history (with the exception of Phantasmagoria II), the journey to get there was a blast.
And yes, play evil! (Good call on that, whoever said it)Â
KOTOR 2 is an awesome game.
Honestly guys, outside of the plot holes, what was so bad about KOTOR? It had all the gameplay mechanics of the first game, hours and hours of dialogue, more lightsabre skills, more force powers, what seemed like more allies and, my favoirte, the alignment system. I got so much joy out of twisting the Handmaiden to the dark side.
Infact, as you know, Kotor 2 had more potencial than first one. Everybody knows what Lucas has done. Anyway, Kotor 2 is not a complete game. But it must be played. The characters in this game are weaker than first. In first game characters were nearly real...
[QUOTE="mauro311"]The only parts I didn't like about KOTOR 2 was the first and last levels....both were horribly boring and drawn out but the ending by far was the worst ending worse then the movies...just kinda left you there...with too many questions...and an uncool boss battle...against an old hag who you learn to hate after the first level... also the game after awhile became one sided...I went through droves of enemies with my force scream...it was ridiculously overpowered...no challenge after your 2nd or 3rd stage area...lol_wafflesYou might want to use a spoilers tag.
Yeah so we can hide any spoilers like :cough: the worse ending ever :cough: where if your good you fly away.. And thats it.
Which makes me wonder, if this really is Obsidians fault.. NWN2 their last game after KOTOR2, was also rushed as well.. With numerous bugs, performance issues, boring story, linear gamepaly, and brain dead AI. I thought it quite impressive on KOTOR2 that they did it 6 months.. But now with their second titel they have made being completely rushed title I put both games at the fault of Obsidian. Because they fold under any kind of pressure unlike Bioware which both games were not at all rushed what so ever.
