Is L.A. Noire working on PCs now?

L.A. Noire is on sale for $5 on Amazon (down from $30). It's one of those games I had on a console, didn't play much (but enjoyed the few minutes I did play), sold it, and would like to give it another shot on my platform of choice.

However, as I was reading some past topics about the PC version L.A. Noire, I noticed many people were having issues with the game (particularly with it not starting up or shutting down properly), especially after updating their graphics drivers and DirectX versions.

I was just wondering if Rockstar has addressed these issues and if it's safe to buy.

No, it's still a POS. Problems with starting it, 30 fps cap and really poor performance are still big issues. Atleast for me, just picked it up from amazon aswell.

Works better since the DX11 patch.

I never had any problems from the beginning ether apart from a freeze on the exit of the game.

brilliant game.

Worked flawlessly since release on my Nvidia machine but runs like crap atill on my AMD one.

However, a quick search of these forums will reveal countless users having major issues with the game, most of which being L.A. Noire simply won't start due to incompatibilities with certain DirectX versions and graphics drivers. Apparently the Steam version had it's own set of problems too, including not starting.

So I'm glad it's working for you, I just wanted to make sure it was working for the majority of users here as well. Thanks for the response though.

I got mine on Steam and played it during PC's launch. It ran fine on my PC. Framerate was capped at 30fps. There was nothing I could do about the framerate so I just played through it until the ending. There was a minor problem on my experience though. It always crashes whenever I exit the game. It never exit properly, ever. I always get the message "LA Noire has stopped responding..." everytime I quit the game. It was just a minor problem as my saves were never corrupted.

But it was a honest question since its not entirly a secret what LA Norie is and what the game is about.

But let me ask in another way, what was it you found boring?

About everything...the gme is a bore fest...it is a mediocre game...

Yeah the face animations are great...but thats it...beside the facial animations there isnt much to the game itself

The game was boring, pretty sure I already pointed that out...

BTW: I wasnt mistaken, more like mislead by your immature response to a negative comment on a game you obviously like. Or, maybe I wasnt mislead either, maybe I was just right. I doubt you would ever admit to that though. Understand that sometimes, some people have different preferences and different opinions of a game to what you have, theres no need to call them COD fanboys and be all wank about it or try and delve deeper into what it is they dont like about it so that you can derail a thread onto a 5 page argument where you believe your opinion is always right. Dont you have better things to do?

Why exactly is this fix considered illegal? And what does the fix do? I downloaded it, but I'm hesitant to apply it if there's something shady about it.

Why exactly is this fix considered illegal? And what does the fix do? I downloaded it, but I'm hesitant to apply it if there's something shady about it.

Because it is a product from a notorious hacker.

I am currently using it and there is nothing shady about it.
