I have no trouble finding people wat all times of the day. The game is growing, it's a very solid MMO with a loyal fan base.
I don't know, it just seems like there are so many more players on other games like WoW and D&D Online that maybe my subscription fee would be better spent elsewhere.Envoy_of_WolvesOf course WoW has more players, it has more players than all other large MMO's combined, LOTRO doesn't have the largest player base but it isn't small, not even close to being as small as D&D, unless D&D being free changed that.

I think it just seems like DDO has more players because the actual world in the game is a lot smaller. Lots of instanced stuff and whatnot.

Yeah you only see people in the cities and hubs in DDO and there are only a few servers. LOTRO probably has a much higher player population.

Well the lineage and everquest games still have massive market share over in the orient. I don't think wow has half, if it does acti-blizz is rolling in even more money than I thought.

WoW has lost half of their player base since Chinese servers got shut down, and with Aion - who knows how far down it is now.
out of curiosity, w hy did they shut down the Chinese servers?

China banned it.that doesnt suprise me, though at first I suspected gold farmers lol
What the heck are you smoking? WoW isn't banned in China :| There would be mass suicides in China if that happened.F1_2004
Actually it is:
http://www.businessinsider.com/new-world-of-warcraft-banned-in-china-2009-3
However, it says its banned from being sold. I don't know how hard it is to get a foreign copy in China.

I doubt it would be difficult for the Chinese to pick up foreign copies.[QUOTE="F1_2004"]What the heck are you smoking? WoW isn't banned in China :| There would be mass suicides in China if that happened.zomglolcats

yea, they could easily log onto other servers.
I dont know the specifics, I imagine China could blocks the IP addresses (or whatever theyre called) of WoW servers but I dont see that happening.

China banned it. They made some graphical changes to it and it's back up. I read something about it on Kotaku within the last month or so. Apparently the Chinese government has a thing against bones in games. Maybe they should worry about real issues at some point, like say, human rights violations, but okay, they replaced the bones in WoW. Great job.China banned it. Let's not bring the topic into politics please? On topic: I still see a lot of people playing LOTRO, so maybe you should try switching servers or something
As a long time LOTRO player...I wouldn't say it's dying...just at a standstill.
Many lvl 60 charactars are just not playing at the moment ( Waiting for Mirkwood )..
You can only grind so much..
Everyone is impatient to get out of the Mines and back into something new...( AKA Mirkwood..December release )
Personally I'm more interested in the story ( what there is of it ) then fighting the Turtle a hundred times in a hope of getting that elusive armor or weapon...
So I'm waiting for Mirkwood ...and if that fails to hold me...I'm cancelling my subscription...
Besides there alot of games coming out soon...( or are out already )
I know DA:O is going to be my main choice of RPGing this winter...
Well, I thought the game might be declining also, because I just bought the "Complete Edition" (SoA & MoM) for $9.95, and the last time I saw a price drop like that was on Tabula Rasa!...let's hope it was just on sale, no?
Well honestly speaking, turdbine has really munched the pooches booty on lotro. I took a trip to out of the US for 3 months, came back and I think turdbine should add tumble weeds to all the towns. I am a $99.00 lifetime member of nothing where lotro is concerned at this point. I play on nimrodel and arkinstone servers and both "Where" the big time population servers before my trip. But now ..they are ghost towns. I also play several other MMOS and even Anarchy online has more people than lotro at all hours. Hell Everquest still has more people to group with at all hours of the day/night. So WTF turdbine ...
I'm not entirely sure why you bumped a 3 month old thread, but the "big time population server" has always been Brandywine. Secondly, with the release of the Siege of Mirkwood expansion, LOTRO is doing pretty well right now. The problem is that a lot of the population is in Moria, meaning if you are still below level 50, you probably wont see too many people. Not to mention there are several different areas to level in for each level range, meaning you will likely see less people. I can only speak to my own experiences, but I have never had difficulty finding a group for any quest or instance in LOTRO, at least on Brandywine.Well honestly speaking, turdbine has really munched the pooches booty on lotro. Um...out of the country for 3 months, that might have been a clue as to why. No brandy has not always been the big server to play on. Again $99.99 lifetime player here... given that alone tells you I have had my toons since beta and I kept them as well as my monster play toons I have my boots and cloak and my free slow horse. An with the release of moria and the recent release ...ghost town...and turdbine should still add tumble weeds. Perhaps brandy is now the place to be ...I will transfer one of my 50+ there.
lotro sucks
Varny
I wouldnt go that far, lotro is a wonderful an beautiful game. It just has little to no players. hell I logged into FFix an it had more peopel playing.. Thats a 4 server comparison. I can spell out what that means if need be ...but I hope anyone who reads this can get it.
I don't ever remember the lifetime subs being $99. $199 yes, anyways to the point. No I play on Silverlode and there is still plenty of people running around. Not so much in bree anymore but there really isn't a reason for being there.Esteldin normally has a number of people in the crafting/bank area and in the general vicinity of north downs. I am not in the biggest Kin but there seems to be quite a few of them on in mirkwood and most of the folks have been talking about mirkwood being busy. Sure the game doesn't have WoW population but I wouldn't say it is dying/dead, I still see new people playing.
