Ok, but I've heard that the game has great physics, so I'm planning on leaving them on. Will this cause the game to lag?
Please tell me for I don't want to buy a game that lags on my PC.
high end physics is for top level nvidia cards and 4+ core CPUs, dont turn it onOk, but I've heard that the game has great physics, so I'm planning on leaving them on. Will this cause the game to lag?

i have an ati radeon 4650xfx 1 gb and an amd dual corell x 2 245 and i played with physx on till i was in the middle of the game...i dint get serious lags at all....i got low fps only at certain high gfx areas.but turning of the physx really improves gameplay gravitygamerI'm pretty sure you need a Nvidia card to use physX. So...lies.
even though we need nvidia for using physx but the option for using physx is also there for ati radeon inthe game.
i can change the physx to medium and it wrks fine.i dont need to lie....

No lies im actually using the Physx in that game on med with my 5870.
I'd leave the PhysX off. The 9600 GSO won't have a tough time with the game BTW at a 720p like resolution.
There's a way to tweak the physx so that only the player has cloth dynamics. Reason why Physx will lag for lower end computers is because that every NPC walking around has cloth dynamics enabled, and especially the female NPC's with the skirts that use up a lot of resource. You'd still have the particles and such, just that NPC cloth is disabled and it should be because it's pretty much pointless to be honest.

look at my sig...i went from 30-40fps to 10 just by turning on the physics...it really needs a dedi physics card...which is unfortunate

What do you expect, you have an ATI/AMD card. Your CPU is doing the work :?[QUOTE="lpjazzman220"]

Well you need to learn a little about the software then. ;)[QUOTE="lpjazzman220"][QUOTE="millerlight89"]What do you expect, you have an ATI/AMD card. Your CPU is doing the work :?

Well you need to learn a little about the software then. ;)so the software has tacked on physics...cause checking my cpu and mem usage without physics...it didnt look like it was doin all too much...it didnt use that many resources at all...especially in the processor area...i could set the affinity for 2 cores and probably not take a hit in frames that much at all...so why would physics destroy my frames that much when my computer isnt working thaaaat hard to run it? seems to me...the software is horribly written then...ive never had any problems with aegia or the newer nvidia physics on any other game...maybe 5 frames...but thats not much...so if u r correct...which is seems u could be...the software has some serious problems...

Did you try the tweak? The one where you disable the unneeded cloth physics on all of the NPCs?Here's the thing, Jazzman - Nvidia has always played dirty paying developers to optimise games for their Geforce cards. Phyisx is just another step. They need that because for the last couple of years AMD/Ati cards have been superior in terms of FPS per wat and usualy FPS per dollar, too, so they need something. I know many people will disagree, but believe me I'm not an Ati guy, I'm just trying to be rational.

ive always thought nvidia was overpriced lol...but i guess it would make sense...lol

sry...some of us sleep and have class...and i didnt see it till now...but no i didnt try the tweak didnt know there was one...physics wasnt that important to me anyway...i was just vexed that it didnt work on my system cause it didnt make sense as to why my system was taxed so much with physics where it wasnt taxed nearly enough when i was running it without physics
Ok I'll keep that in mind. But what the hell are the game developers doing?! I doubt that the graphics and physics Mafia 2has are better than the ones Crysis has - and I used to play Crysis Warhead on maximum (enthusiast or something) details and experienced no lag at all. - But I'll have to play this game without physics.
What the hell is going on?
