I was planning to buy the game but I'm not sure how is that gameplay like. I've been playing RPG's like X-Men Legends and Marvel ULTIMATE aLLIANCE, is this game makes not much diffrent from the two games. Does Mass Effect looks like an online MMORPG where u can customize the characters costume and skills with some dialouge and combat. I'm not sure whether or not to buy this game. I have some experience playing RPG. I hope this game is not boring and must be worth playing it. Hopefully this game can last long.

No it's not :( I hated it, can't see how anyone could see past it's faults  I expected something at least on par with KOTOR this got nowhere near that standard unfortunately

TC: Why have you made two posts asking the same question? One thread topic is sufficient.

Mass Effect is not for everyone. It's not at all like an MMO. It's a great single player game with a decent story. If you like KotoR, then you may like this game.

"Decent"?!?! Story?!? Well... Maybe our definitions are different but the sci-fi story isn't fairly unique by any standards, Mass Effect effectively portrays the story very well. Something that I think bioware has been growing better and better in. The only game that has been truly the leader in story telling is MGS 4. But Mass Effect does a very good job as well. If you like playing the hero, real time strategy/shooter, interactive dialog (heavy focus), exploration, then this game will be very much a part of your time. Plus, replaying I found has not lost the games fun factor.

And a mention on the portrayal to elaborate, Mass Effect does story telling in a very enticing way where the originality of the story isn't so much a factor as the experience in that position is the enticing quality, I think that might be why Bioware has always tried to focus on the dialog system so much.

True. Both very different attempts at the WRPG genre. I loved KOTOR, but personally, I think Mass Effect edged it out for me.

No. I'm quite meh about it. It looks great but I cba to play it sometimes. Not like Fallout 3 where I actally want to level up my skills, once you lvl up in ME it's like nothing has happened to justify the effort.

Yeah, I agree. ME felt shallow and unfinished (I'm guessing they cut a lot out to make the sequels, because all we got were a bunch of unfinished story arcs), but it was presented well enough to be enjoyable.

There isn't much character customisation - basically four weapons to specialise in and a few other powers/skills to choose from, and equipment is all generic/randomised, so if the TC is looking for customisation, there are much better games to choose from.

I thought Mass Effect was exellent! My only complaint was with some of the bugs, in particular the audio bugs. It didn't make the game unplayable by any means but had the game not been so great I may not have had much patience with it.

No way, impossible for it to be a game for everyone, by nature or as a fact. It's an RPG and really appeals to one crowd who enjoy story more than anything along with choices and buckets oozing with dialogue. Even then, it fails to impress that crowd. The game is ludicrously static, so much so that it really hurts when you notice it. If you play a bustling MMO like WoW and then come to Mass Effect, you feel isolated and very, very alone. The game's main city has everyone standing in one place not moving, which makes it feel like you're constantly walking in a statue museum.

The game is decent I'll give it that, but people with astronomically high standards after Kotor will simply know there's something wrong with it. Only play it if you're a die hard fan of any Kotor/Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter Night game. No ifs or buts.

Same here, I thought this game is so average and mediocre.

i thought it was a buggy masterpiece, the crysis of action rpg space sci-fi games. sure, it wasn't very inventive, but it took all the tried and true parts of previous games in the genre and perfected them. but as i said, its buggy. lots of random crashing, especially if you have a g92 based card with nvidia physx drivers before 182.06.

I felt that the game itself was okay.... but the port job is a pure disaster. Buggiest game I've ever owned.... If you buy it, I suggest only getting the Xbox version. I mangaged to play thru the whole game, but my computer must have crashed about 60 times doing it, and at the time the only Nvidia driver that would work with the game were the 169.21's. The early 17x drivers would work, too, but the 169.21's ran the game longer on my PC, before freezing up. The drivers after the 17x's gave me nothing but protection errors, the 182.03's only worked in windowed mode, and the 182.06 work about as good as the 17x drivers,on my system.
