I like the idea of epic Lord of the Rings battles, also Napoleon has been kinda bumming me out by the poor pathfinding.

Alright, ill pick up the the gold edition on steam(10$). It comes with Medieval 2 and kingdoms.
I have the boxed copy of med II. When i saw the Third Age mod, I bought the steam gold edition of Med II just to play that mod. I now have more playtime in that mod than the base game, and havent even touched vanilla kingdoms yet...probably never will, seeing how Third Age makes the game actually a challenge now...the AI works *GASP*
They don't have unique environments.....
.... yet.

I am curious about this mod and wondering how much of a conversion is it? Are there different mechanics on unit/general advancements? Are there big units (trolls with their toxic belchings) who can cleave half a dozen men with a single swing? Is there deeper quest/mission system like helping Frodo stop traveling in circles so he can reach wherever he was setting to go?
If it is just different units on a different map I probably wont enjoy it for a long time.
