Does seem to be a bit lower, but then again their setup is more beefy for sure.

I'm guessing it's performing correctly... I get 30-31fps on island at 1600x1200. So it's a 40% improvement over the 8800GT. Looks better on paper, doesn't it?

Your card is running perfectly fine. Crysis isnt a good benchmark to go by. When you start playing the game and running around the jungle, you'll see just the same framerates if not better. Some people saw better framerates in actual gameplay. You're good to go man, your card is doing its job.

You can even play Crysis on very high, and still see about an average of 30-35 fps which is very playable, buttery-smooth. Give it a try.

Lol, why not? It's been done. A single HD4870 can run Crysis on DX10, very high, with an average of 30FPS or more! :D

So your 4870 is getting about double the FPS as my 8800GS. At 1280x1024 I get 34FPS on the benchmark.

Yeah but it also has less memory, smaller bus, and less shaders.

It's only overclocked to GT speeds. That's not really a OC 8800gs. 700core/1750 shader is a OC 8800gs.

I see. Looking at your motherboard, I see its two PCI-E X16's run in X16 and X4 in Crossfire (that is, one will be X16 while the other will be limited to X4). I don't know a lot about this, but perhaps that means one of those always runs in X16 and one always in X4 (less bandwidth). Can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case? In P35 motherboards with this dual PCI-E X16 setup, is it only when you have two cards in Crossfire that one of the slots gets downsized to X4? Or is one of the slots limited to X4 at all times?

By the way, man, why'd you get a Crossfire motherboard in the first place when you have an 8800GT?

He spotted the ATi bandwagon with their HD4800's. Ahhhooo!

Right, but are those conditions only when you have two cards in Crossfire? Or is that true when you just have a single video card in the board, as well? Is one of the P35's slots always limited to X4 bandwidth while the other is always at full bandwidth, or is it only when you put two cards in the motherboard that one of the slots has its bandwidth restricted to X4? See, I'm asking because if the former is the case, then the guy getting low performance with his 8800GT may be putting the card in the X4 slot, decreasing his performance. If the latter is the case, though, then it doesn't matter which of his two slots he puts the card in.

Only when you have 2 cards in Crossfire. When you have one, it operates at x16 speed.
