An 8800GT would let you run everything on high/highest settings sans AA. A 9800 would let you even kick in some AA.

A couple more GB of RAM would be advised though, especially since it's so cheap.

The official specs for playing Assassin's Creed are:

Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)

RAM: 2 GB (3 GB recommended)

Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0–compliant video card or DirectX 9.0–compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended)

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)

Hard Drive Space: 12 GB

Hope that helps.

Yes, you will run it, but that's all of the good things I can say about this rig. From the gamer perspective, it's totally unbalanced, heavily biased towards CPU. If you're short on budget, get a cheaper CPU (say, E7200) and better GPU. If you're not, stay with E8400 but again, get a better GPU if you want your games to look good and be fluent. Radeon 4850 for 200$ is a preferable choice, but a 150$ 8800GT 512 should be sufficient as well.
