I been wondering if my phenom II x4 @ 3.1 ghz are bottlenecking my 6870s. I had them for a while, but it's been bugging me if they are. So, I dont mind overclocking my cpu if they are bottlenecking.

I'm sure you have a bit of a bottleneck there, nothing too severe. Try overclocking your CPU to 3.4ghz+ and see what kind of performance you get.
Opps meent cpu in the title my bad guys.. I kinda mess up on the cpu, gpu, psu lingo. Srry bout that again. /facepalm
Alright I'll give that a try.. thx uI'm sure you have a bit of a bottleneck there, nothing too severe. Try overclocking your CPU to 3.4ghz+ and see what kind of performance you get.

Good. Now go higher! :D
Is your cpu the 955? Mine runs perfectly fine at 3.8ghz for the last year and 1/2. AutoPilotOn
Mine is not, mine is the 555 I unlocked the cores, but i been planning to upgrade to the one you have or the x6. Also, I would go higher if I water cooled my cpu. :D

Not really worth going with a Phenom II, now, unless you're on a really tight budget. Wait for Bulldozer, or go Sandy Bridge.[QUOTE="softchickenugge"][QUOTE="AutoPilotOn"]Is your cpu the 955? Mine runs perfectly fine at 3.8ghz for the last year and 1/2. C_Rule

Well, by then, there will be even more choice, as Ivy Bridge should be out.[QUOTE="softchickenugge"][QUOTE="C_Rule"] Not really worth going with a Phenom II, now, unless you're on a really tight budget. Wait for Bulldozer, or go Sandy Bridge. C_Rule

Seeing this thread, I'm afraid that my C2D E4500 will also bottleneck my upcoming GPU (GTX 560 Ti). :?
Yup, that may be a pretty severe bottleneck, again some overclocking may help. Though unless you manage to pull it well above 3 GHz you should probably be looking into upgrading sooner rather than later.Seeing this thread, I'm afraid that my C2D E4500 will also bottleneck my upcoming GPU (GTX 560 Ti). :?

I'm planning to get a new one, but won't be soon. By the time, to keep things on the run, I may OC it to 2.7GHz. I heard it was possible since I already put up a thread on it and my friends told me that I can OC it to 2.7GHz with stock coolers. Any objections?
I got my E4500 to 11x250 MHz, but I think that the motherboard had some problems with higher bus speed. Depending on how good a board you have and how lucky you are you may be able to get above 3 GHz, or you you might get stuck somewhere around 2.5 GHz. There is no way to know but trying.I'm planning to get a new one, but won't be soon. By the time, to keep things on the run, I may OC it to 2.7GHz.
