I have been playing Crysis Warhead on enthusiast settings with 2x anti aliasing at 1920 x 1080, and the game has been running slow, the fps varies from 10 fps at worst and 30 fps at best, so therefore I reduced the settings a bit by taking off anti aliasing but the fps still isn't high enough. I would really like to play on maximum settings. I have already updated to the latest drivers and have updated warhead to the latest patch. My specs are:

Intel i7 920

Geforce GTX 295

6gb ddr3 ram

Is my graphics card not performing how it should? Do you guys have any advice on how to increase my performance?

Do a 3DMark06 benchmark run.A stock clock I7 with a 295 should score somewhere over 20,000 without overclocking.

Did you double-check that SLI was enabled on the card? I forget if you have to or not, but it'd be worth checking since your frame-rates sound right about in-line for a GTX 260/280 at those settings, so one of the cards might have been disabled in the Nvidia control panel somehow.

I went to the Nvidia Control panel and the "multi GPU configuration" setting is set to enable, is that what you are talking about? Because I can't find an SLI option anywhere.

Yeah, that should be it. There might also be an option in-game to enable dual-graphics card configurations that you'll need to enable, but I'm not sure. Other than that, make sure your computer is running as clean as possible in-game. No virus scans (passive or active) or excessive programs running, that sort of thing.

If you do have SLi enabled, there should be an option labelled 'SLi performance mode.' Ensure you change that to 'force alternate frame rendering 1.' That's supposed to be the best setting to use for an SLi setup.

ravenguard90

ok i'll try that (on mine it's called multi gpu performance mode, do you mean that?)

By the way I ran 3d mark 06 and I got 16,505, someone said that I should be getting over 20,000, so something isn't right here

My Q9650 and CrossFired 4870s without either overclocked runs 3dMark06 (Default settings) at 17,600, Overclock both the CPU and video and it scores 24,400. I'm guessing with more processor and video than I have, an I7 and a 295 shoulld score over 19,000 - Though just an estimate.

Yes my friend your card is not performing well enough.....

The gtx 295 proced to have 22 fps lowest, and the cpu is not the problem at all.

My guess is that you have some kind of malware, like i use to have it on my laptop. and then after giving it a good clean i managed to boost my games faster.

probably this wont help....

go this page

http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gtx_295_us.html

and compare the specs with your video card.

to compare Right click on your desktop and click on nvidia control panel.

select advanced settings. and then select "system information" bottom left part.

Compare the specs, probably ur card downclocked itself, i heard it happened to some guys, Hopefully thats ur issue, and u can restore it to the clock speeds

by downloading nvidia tools from nvidia webpage.

Oh and btw can u gimme ur mobo number, there are a lot of mobos claiming to be pci 2.0 while they are not. ill try to helpful get ur card to its best.

my asus g51vt-rx05 gtx260m came downclocked compared to webpage info, and i overcloked bak to its stock settings and further and runs 85 c on max, its quite healthy i should say, and did really improve my gaming.

your mobo is ok, INFACT that is a very good mobo, and runs games faster than normal pci express 2.0 mobos. Not by a lot, but its good.

well that really strange that only the crysis games are the ones having problems. maybe check out the crysis forums and see if other users with a similar setup are running into difficulties

Also, there is one thing I noticed in the 3dmark 06 demo, when it did the cpu test, it was only getting 1 frame per second, so could it be the cpu?

Holy crap, why is your processor so slow? It should be at 2.66 ghz. Try getting the cpu-z results while it is at load. You might have speedstep enabled, which downclocks the processor when it's idle.

Download "setfsb" tool and overclok you processor to 2.66ghz, I dont believe there is such a power saving issue, as my friends i 920 does not act like this.

when you open ur setfsb,

-On clock generator select the model,/

-then select "ICS9148BF-26"(this number is the model of ur motherboard gigabyte ex ga58-) Then click on get fsb, then on the bar the LARGE one start clocking ur cpu until it reaches 2.66ghz.

-Hopefully this would help, Unfortunatly if this works ull have to this after every start up.

IF IT DOESNT then I really have no idea how is the bios of your mobo, u can get an expert from gigabyte to help u out updating the motherboard,

I tried to help you out, But apparently the card is not performing as its supposed to, Perhaps u can refund.....

cause i dont have any more ideas,

UPDATE THE BIOS, but that almost never helps.

Cause its suppose to get 34fps average and at best like when no enemy around it should go around 45 fps. and when loads of enemys around it should hit 20 fps minimum.

Set your system power management to high performance , no need to overclock as the cpu isnt even running at stock speeds.

Run 3DMark. At the least you should be able to sort out if the problem is CPU or GPU. Here's an I7 with a 295

I think his OC is 3.6, but the CPU amd SM2/3 subscores should help determine if it's the card.

Wow, some guys get their I7's to 4.0 and some to 3.6... Same as Phenom II's. If you have a good mobo and you try, you can hit the top. But I only got to 3.8 with my 955 so far. DAmn stock cooler doesn't allow for more than 1.450 vcore.

I'd say your systems running on target for stock speed. Here's what some others said from this particular thresd (Official 3DMark06 scores thread),

"Are you guys overclocking your GPU's? I have a core i7 2.66, 6 gb of ram, geforce gtx 295 and am only getting 16k. I've turned off everything I possibly can in Vista 64 bit. I am using a beta verison of the new driver for that card, think that might be it?"

Vid Card: BFG GeForce GTX 295

and

"I have very similiar setup:

Core i7 920
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R motherboard
BFG GTX 295
6GB G-Skill DDR3 1333
Noctua's CPU cooler
2 x 750GB Hard drive in RAID 0
Corsair 850W Power supply
Antec 900 case
Windows 7 64-bit & Windows XP 32bit

When I ran 3DMark06 initially, I also got about 16,000 score.

I have since overclocked my CPU to 3.7GHz (3.885 with Intel's Turbo mode) and overclocked my GPU to match GTX 285's speeds.

The best 3DMark06 score I have gotten so far has been a bit over 25,000."

Seems like the I7/GTX295 setup can be relatively docile at stock speeds, but has the potential to be a beast with a good overclock. Have you not tried overclocking your system yet?

If you are going to overclock ur card, download evga precision tool, Or nvidia tools both work fantastic in my opinion, Or u can use the peoples favorie RIVATUNER. but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT U DOWNLOAD "HARDWARE MONITOR" from cpuid, It shows all ur hardware temperatures. and dont let ur card go above 100c, or it will fry itself.

No I have never tried overclocking, in fact I know very little about overclocking. I probably won't bother with overclocking, it seems too hard and confusing and you have to buy extra fans and heatsinks. All the other games I have tried on my system run ok, it's just crysis thats a little slow, anyway I tried running Crysis in direct x 9 and the frame rate got a bit better and I couldn't notice any difference in the graphics anyway.

A few things I willsay about overclocking.

It can be as simple or complex as you want to make it.

A 25% speed increase, (your 2.66 920 to 3.3), is relatively easy to achieve without increasing voltage, heat, or the life of your processer by more than an insignificant margin. It can be as easy as raising the frequency of the front side bus without changing any other settings, such as CPU voltage.

I run my 3.0 Quad at 3.6 24/7 at stock voltage. The I7s will OC up to around 4.4 on air.

The first 25% speed increase is easy, it's when you get up to increases of 30-40% or more that voltages, heat, and instability start becoming hard to manage.
