i just got a new power supply from newegg and i connected it to my mobo without connecting anything else and when i turn my computer on my processor fan and my fan on my power supply spins once then stops. is my power supply dead?
i got the power supply so i would have enough power to run my amd 6000 processor and my 8800 gts video card. this is the power supply i got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817709014
I don't know if that PSU is good or not, but I myself would be weary of a 680w PSU for $55. While it seems to have enough amps on the 12v rails, it does not give any more specs. It doesn't list the efficiency or anything.
You could try putting your old PSU back in and see if it powers up, if so you got a bad PSU.
i think my psu is dead. i did what you said and my comp powered on. im going to go to a comp store my make sure it is dead. should i get another power suppy just like it or get my money back from newegg?
