Hi guys. I’m about to upgrade my GPU from 3060 ti to 4070 super but I have a question about my PSU. I’m currently has a EVAGA 750 Watt Gold PSU is it enough for the new PSU?

My PC spec is (No RGB at all.)

AMD Ryzan 9 7900X
ASUS B650E-F ROG STRIX GAMING WIFI AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard
Noctua NH-D15 Black CPU Cooler
EVGA super nova 750 PSU gold
G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32G
5 HDD, 2(M2 990 pro) 3 (3.5 HDD)
7 Case Fan
EVGA RTX 3060 TI

I don’t just use the PC for gaming, I also use it for work such as photoshop and such so that is why I have a few 3.5 internal HDD. I also game and work on 1080P monitor before so 3060 TI was decent enough, but I’m thinking about my monitor to 1444P monitor and RTX 4070 super ( any GPC above will be out of my budget)

I will like to know do I need to upgrade my PSU as well to 850W? I check with a few websites for PSU calculations but I get different result, so I just want to check with the experts here, thank you.

@ni6htmare01:

Unless that EVGA 750w psu is more than 6 years old you will be just fine. RTX 4070S and 3060ti use roughly same amount of power. So depending on what model your going with it could be up to 50 watts more than 3060ti.

Thank you for the response, the card I’m planning to get is

https://www.asus.com/us/motherboards-components/graphics-cards/tuf-gaming/tuf-rtx4070s-12g-gaming/

ASUS Tuf gaming RTX 4070 super OC edition. I was tell ASUS cards are pretty well made so that is why I’m going with it, and my EVGA 750w PSU is just a year old so I think I’m good, thank you.

You would be fine with a quality 550W PSU for that setup.

I don't see why it's not I'm running a 5800x3D and a RTX 4070ti on a EVGA 650 watt gold psu just fine

I can't imagine you pulling more than me, or if you did, it wouldn't be that much.

@ni6htmare01: That 4070S uses like 20w more than a normal 3060ti so in reality no real difference is power requirements.

Yes it's fine. Although if you upgrade to an RTX 5800 or something at the end of this year you MIGHT need 850w. Even that could be doubtful though.
