That's about what I got with my overclocked Newcastle Athlon 64, 2GB of DDR RAM, and voltmodded 7900gt. It's pretty low by today's standards, but you should still be able to play pretty much any game on lower settings.

It's certainly not a bad score, though I'd consider the 4650 the minimum mobile GPU to consider in a notebook if gaming is going to be a focus.

Not that bad for a laptop but compared to desktops it is crap

The newer desktops are getting 4 times that!

Yes it is reasonable for a gaming laptop. Should play games quite well.

Ugh... Why do you care about 3D Mark scores? They don't reflect the real life experience in anything. They are just used by some highly egotistic people to compare their scores and say "wowz meeza got over 20000+ in 3d mark meez rig iz smoking yrz!". So I wouldn't care much about them in your place.

PS: That score looks ok for #d Mark standards on such PC's.

SligO, People use benchmarks because it provides a reference standard. For instance I can run 3DMark before and after an upgrade or an overclock then accurately determine the value of the difference. Is a particular card worth $50 more if there is very little performance increase - 3DMark or Vantage at least gives me a reference value.

True, 3DMark results do not always accurately reflect results in a particular game, but what does - only that particular game. Contrary to what you may think, 06 and Vantage are both good indicators of gaming performance because they utilize carefully chosen games to measure performance. Both are used by millions of casual users, enthusiasts, and hard core overclockers to assess and compare systems.

If you have a better way to assess performance or compare two systems then by all means chime in, but your opinions, oftendelivered with insults attached are usually hostile, antagonistic, and frankly, childish. I thought you might calm down a little since your "Who's sick of This" thread, but I can see I was wrong.
