Will I enjoy it? I don't usually ever play RPGs.
If I don't get Oblivion, I'll probably go with Stalker for my next purchase.

If you're looking for shooting action on par with a true first person shooter then neither Oblivion Or Stalker measure up to the best in the genre. Combat in Oblivion and Stalker are not that great IMO, but both games are about more than just the combat. Skeptomania

I'm not a big fan of Stalkers combat. I haven't been able to stick with the game long enough to get more than a few hours in, so maybe it gets better and i'll change my mind. So far I find it boring. If it's just that way early in the game, then I don't like that about the game. A game with first person shooting combat should have better combat from the beginning, IMO.
It's the best RPG for FPS lovers in my opinion.pseudodog07
Deus Ex is a much better game and a 'true' RPG.
To the OP: You need a lot of patience if you are going to get STALKER my friend..

Why's that?
It is a highly overrated game. Some of the things in it, like the AI, are not even finished!! biggest_loser
Uh, the AI was completely finished. They just toned it back from what they had promised pre-release because the AI was causing problems as it was.

It is a very tough game even on the second difficulty setting. You can die in just a few shots. There is also a lot of boring walking around, as is the problem with a lot of these open world games. There are a few glitches and bugs here and there too. I am just warning you.

BladeMaster84
The Ai has a psychic ability to not only know when you have stolen goods without seeing you but to also magically appear behind you when you have snuck into a house. Not only is that blatantly unfair, it also ruins the immersion.
The NPCs don't even look as though they are aware that the world is coming to an end.
The Witcher and Deus Ex are much better RPGs.

I meant the best fantasy swords and spells RPG for FPS lovers.

Ah, I get what you mean now. That's more what I would have called terribly programmed AI than unfinished but it's annoying either way.
Yet another thread full of Oblivion bashing. The game was released more than two years ago, but for some reason it's become the single most popular thing to criticize this month. I wonder why....dos4gw82
Yes it can get annoying hearing people bash a game over and over - like Bioshock for me - but people here are entitled to say what they want and many happen to agree that Oblivion is quite overrated.
I personally liked Oblivion, and think it would be good for an FPS fan. It's got its flaws, but the combat is nicely done, and the story is interesting enough to keep you playing. It suffers from a short storyline, but your average FPS player won't care too much about that really.
Final word, I'd say go for it. It's definitely worth the investment.
I wish there was a demo for each of these games. It would help with marketing the game, and it doesn't require that much of an investment from the developers. Just make a short 1 level demo. siddhartha211
Oblivion is an open world game, it doesn't have levels. It has a massive world to explore and do quests in, which makes making a demo hard.

More and more people are jumping on the bandwagon. Some people thought the game sucked from the start - and now people are now just starting to listen to our complaints and realize that the game legitimitely sucks.
