ive got a p4 2.8ghz with hyper threading and i was wondering will that be a good enogh cpu to play games like wow if i put a decent gfx card in my desktop

It can probably handle WoW for the most part however it will hold you back. It's generally considered as a bad CPU, especially nowadays!

Depends on your definition of half decent. A mid-range PC costs at least $600. An entry level PC (that can max WoW) can be had for less than $500 though.

u can play some games on a pentium IV 2.8ghz+ such as rainbow 5 vegas, olbivion and guildwars with a nice little gpu to back you up

WoW isn't that intensive, and the game is from 2004. You might be able to find someone's used Geforce 6600GT AGP on ebay for $30-40, which could handle the game.

For wow and all games before 2006 the cpu is good enough, you will need a videocard too, but that you can find dirt cheap. Make sure you buy a videocard for the right slot. It's all pci-e nowadays but back then agp was still used a lot.
