Very doubtful.

PC is for RPG, and RTS style games and the console can't compete with how easy the mouse and keyboard make those two genres play.

I can tell you that I will always stay with PC because of two things: The better backwards compatibility, and the superior visuals.

I think Consoels have the edge at the start of a new generation. But then PCs catch up and eventually take over.And then the whole cycle repeats itself again.For example now we're nearing closure to the 360s and PS3's life span. Maybe another 1-2 years left in these consoles. And PC is already very far infront in terms of how it can handle hardcore games. A mid-range PC now can handle Crysis quite easily. And Crysis on high settings pretty much batters the crap out of anything on the consoles. Infact even console games such as MW2 look twice as good on a mid-range PC as they do on the 360/ps3.

And..

The article didn't really bring up any good points. Achievenments and Xbox Live is no reason why PC gaming will die. In fact there's nothing on the consoles that can kill PC gaming. The only thing that can kill PC gaming, is the PC platform it self. As PCs have become more and more wide spread and popular over the last 6-10 years. That now almost every house hold has one. So there's more "non-gamers" on the PC than there are "real-gamers". If developers start concentrating more on casual easy games for the PC such as Sims, point and click web games etc. As a means to target the non-gamer player base on the PC. Then I belive true hardcore gaming might just gain complete dominance on the console. And more and more flagship gaming developers such as Valve/Bioware/Bethesda etc will concentrate even more of their efforts on consoles instead of PCs. And If this happens then more true games will put aside their PC and move to console.

if any thing id say console gaming is doomed there only for kids and simple minded people who can figure out to install a game properly where as a console u put a disc in and away u go

i dont mind paying for xbox live. it runs pretty smooth but also means i play against people with skill sets i can compete against. i tried CS:S fo ayear and never realy got anywhere coz of the youngin's and their superior wall shooting mouse skills. ona controller on Halo and COD, i rock soxs

Well my sources tell me that PC gaming will still be around for a while. But if you want a quick answer then it is yes pc gaming is drowning.

consoles are dying. you see all those comercials about how the ps3 and xbox and do all these things like browse the web and download movies, they are becoming more like computers each generation. Consoles are going to end up being computers anyways the way i see it.ferret-gamer
