[QUOTE="XSAL117"]So is PC gaming worth the money, I'm usually a console gamer and planning to build a PC so what do you guys think?Mazoch
PC Gaming is alive and doing well. I guess the answer to whether it is worth it depends on your preferences though.
That doesn't cover it ... it depends mainly on how thick your wallet is ...

Unless you're not working, then I don't see a problem with being a PC gamer. I find being a console gamer to be more expensive in the long run because the games are so expensive. While with PC games, the price drops very often. Yes, even for major titles. And there's usually a deal for pre-orders so you don't have to spend more than $40-50 for a brand new, major title. You could make minimum wage and afford to build your own gaming PC.[QUOTE="Code135"][QUOTE="Mazoch"]

Aussies are the exception. :evil:pc gaming is more than just gaming, for me my pc is like a hub that i listen to music on and watch tv and all other things
also the last 3 games i've bought (being deus ex:hr, red orchestra 2, and hard reset) have been $33, $33, and $27 respectively - pretty good considering they are brand new, i've been PC gaming for as long as i remember and it's very much alive
also learning hardware and building PCs is a great hobby. i still think communities on the PC are by far the best (always exceptions...im looking at you HoN :P)
I agree with all of this.. lol. Getting to communities though, I think by far the worst community i've ever been apart of was gears 1. I literally couldn't play with a headset on. Even WoW chat seemed civil compared to that crap.. lol. But yea, most games I've played on PC had awesome communities.. more good ones than bad comes..pc gaming is more than just gaming, for me my pc is like a hub that i listen to music on and watch tv and all other things

If you are a pretty casual player with not a lot of time to play games you'll probably be disappointed. There are a lot of sequels and rehashes in the last few years. So you really have to question whether you want to play those sort of games and whether they're worth upgrading for. There are the occasional gems like Portal 2, Deus Ex 3. But then again its kind of sad that for gaming in general that 2 years on we're waiting for Batman, COD and UC3 again as the top games. I'm sure two of those will be pretty good but you get my drift. biggest_loserI think it's time we had those Chancellorship privileges removed :P

Yeah you can.
Parts cost double what they do in America but the minimum wage is also about double ;)

Yeah, Batman will not be that good :P
It's not worth it if you plan on only buying muitplatform games.lawlessx
Disagree. Battlefield 3 on console = nightmare
I would buy a PC for mulitplats alone, but thankfully there are also many awesome exclusives.

Yes, but everything has gone DOUBLE or more in price here. (rent, mortgage, rates, food, etc) Trust me, we are feeling the recession just like the rest of the world.... Australia isn't as easy as it used to be.... (I'm not saying it's impossible... but these days a minimum wage here doesn't get you much after you have paid ur bills...)So is PC gaming worth the money, I'm usually a console gamer and planning to build a PC so what do you guys think?XSAL117PC gaming is so cool the best graphics best everything! so i suggest pc!

I spent 6 months living in Aus about 9-10 years ago and absolutely loved it there, but I'm sure its changed a lot since then.

Oh yes.... Australia is very different to what it was 15-20 years ago. I don't mean to offend anyone, I wouldn't change living here for any other country on the planet (and I'm NOT Australian), but things are worse in some areas...Please Log In to post.
