In an ad, a company is comparing themselves to other websites.  They say iBUYPOWER has a 4.78/10 satisfaction rating.  Is this just propaganda, or should I get my computer somewhere else.  If so, where?

From what I have heard its not a good site at all. You get shotty build quality. I suggest you build one yourself, but if you don't feel up to, Velocity-Micro and ABS are great site. There are other ones like Alienware, VooDoo, and Falcon-Northwest, but are much more expensive than then afformentioned.

It's not a bad site. I got a computer from them before and it's nice, and it's a better deal than **** like Dell or Alienware. Of course some people didn't get the same service as I did, but really they aren't as bad as GameSpot makes it out to be. Most of the people here have never even used a site like Ibuypower, because they think that if you don't build it yourself your an idiot or something. Also reseller ratings isn't a fact, as Dell has an evel lower satisfication rating and they are one of the biggest computer manufacturers out there. So don't listen to Reseller ratings. Give them a try. I did, and they gave me an excellent machine, my latest one though I built my self. Sometimes I get pre-builts some times I just build, all depends on what kind of deals there are.

Okay, I can't build one myself, and I can't go of $2,500.

I'd go with Dell. They have good customer service if something goes wrong. Though you are probably mentioning these sites as they build PCs with those cheesy looking cases.

I'd rather go with cyberpowerpc as my friend's build was quite bad, bad video card, and the water cooled cpu ran hotter than a stock cooler. But he did get his video card rma'd and bought a zalman 9700 and is running fine.

Alot of the problems with IBuyPower and CyberPower (thery're the same people) is they do little quality checking before they send out there computers. Its simple stuff like loose RAM or video card, or a disc drive unplugged. But if you can reseat RAM and a videocard and plug in a disc drive then you can build a computer yourself and not bother with buying from them in the first place.

If you can't do that simple stuff, then their idea of tech support is have you ship the whole unit back to them so that they can fix the problem, and then send it back. And if you don't live in California that measn you're without your computer for a couple weeks.

Here is thier RR page for more customer reviews: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/iBUYPOWER

I'm sorry, but I don't get what you're saying.  Your friend had a crappy computer, and you're suggesting I use that site?

bunchofpixels:  No.  Unless they have something I missed, I can't customize their computers very well on their site.
