even if your OC'ing you probably still wont need it unless you OC'in to insane speeds...

agreed. i think if there's a little airflow in the, the heat spreaders on the ram already is sufficient and active cooling is not needed.

No it is not necessary at all. Mabye if you were OCing really high or had bad airflow.

BTW you can get Crucial Ballistix RAM for like 60 on newegg right now, that will OC better.

I don't think you need Fans for RAMs, Anyway that RAm is very good. I'm using them.

The active cooling on ram is kind of a gimmick if you ask me. Ram heatsinks have such little surface area that blowing air over them will hardly make a difference.

But yet it is needed once you go past the ~2.3v with Micron chips.
Active cooling is definitely needed if you are trying to get into the 600 or 700mhz Club, where more than 2.4v is pretty much mandatory.

I got one free with my motherboard, not the same company and model though.

IDK if it helps or not but those little fans are really annoying (and mine only has 2 fans on it), there like the 2nd loudest thing in my computer (next to my old 6800GS).
