You would only need them if you was overclocking them!
even if your OC'ing you probably still wont need it unless you OC'in to insane speeds...yoyo462001
agreed. i think if there's a little airflow in the, the heat spreaders on the ram already is sufficient and active cooling is not needed.
No it is not necessary at all. Mabye if you were OCing really high or had bad airflow.
BTW you can get Crucial Ballistix RAM for like 60 on newegg right now, that will OC better.

so.. you saing this RAM is better then the one I picked?
P.S I dont really care about lights... as loong as it pref. good
The active cooling on ram is kind of a gimmick if you ask me. Ram heatsinks have such little surface area that blowing air over them will hardly make a difference.Baselerd
But yet it is needed once you go past the ~2.3v with Micron chips.
Active cooling is definitely needed if you are trying to get into the 600 or 700mhz Club, where more than 2.4v is pretty much mandatory.
I got one free with my motherboard, not the same company and model though.
IDK if it helps or not but those little fans are really annoying (and mine only has 2 fans on it), there like the 2nd loudest thing in my computer (next to my old 6800GS).
