I doubt it, but I hope so. I haven't tried it though, still hoping for beta invite. WoW needs some competition!

lol i hyped Aion and still enjoy it, having to choose between them is hard as I'm starting to grow into Rift, but still if I had to choose i'd probably stick with Aion.
I've been watching my brother play for a bit and it seems good so far. The class system is a nice change of pace (reminds me of titan quest masteries) and the rifts popping up all over the place. But, I do see the bog standard MMO game play we've all seen before like boring fetch quests. Once I get patched, I'll party up with my brother and try it out myself. I'm curious, but left wondering if the mechanics that sets it apart has any long lasting appeal or reveal that it's just a gimmick and is "too much like WoW" for its own good.
WOW needs the competition. Blizzard, IMO, has grown arrogant and has taken an elitist attitude in regard to running WoW. Mind you I have played WoW since day 2 of original release and since expansion Cataclysm the game has problems that Bliz refuses to correct. It has come to my attention that I am not the only one that is angry and likely to permanently leave.I doubt it, but I hope so. I haven't tried it though, still hoping for beta invite. Is Rift's system suedo-classless, or totally without class lines like classic SWG? If the latter, then it has a chance.
Yeah, I have to agree that WoW is REALLY starting to get stale with its formula. It is polished, it is consistent, it is solid. None of these things are really in question but you have to admit, every new expansion pack, content patch, etc. is looking more and more like "same old same old".
Yes, Cata is considerably harder than Wotlk and a lot of the more hard core players are enjoying it more, but for people that are more casual, the openness of gameplay has taken a large step back in my mind, and to go along with Blizzard's seemingly increasing mantra of elitism, most of the people that are now really enjoying WoW are those that, in turn, are elitists. Like the guild of "must have Gladiator title to join" that I heard about. I'm sure they're wrecking in Rated Battlegrounds, but let's face it: exclusivity is only fun for those in "the fold".
Games like SWG made it fun for all because it was an entire @#%#ing galaxy to run around in, and you could do what you wanted, when you wanted, where you wanted. If Rift tries to take this approach then it has a chance. A chance. It better get the bugs worked out though, and the content better be there.
SW:ToR has a much, much, much less chance of being "the next big thing" in my opinion. I've seen its type before in AoC and other games. I predict it will be wildly popular for a couple months, six at most, and then it will retreat to the "small niche" group of MMO's along with most of the rest. My reason for saying this is that the classes are super-rigid, no risks/innovations whatsoever. Alongside this, there is an overwhelming amount of the content that is presented in singleplayer. This reflects upon the fact that Bioware can make a hell of an singleplayer RPG. It also reflects in my mind the fact that they have never done a multiplayer game before, and to me they are making some big mistakes before the thing ever gets off the launch pad.
Let's just keep in mind that fan base, lore, etc. ultimately will NOT save a game. I can point to many huge examples: SWG, Lotro, etc. These are mythos, etc. that are WILDLY popular but their player base is scanty at best. Poor systems, boring quests, "the grind", poor extent of content, particularly end-game content. These things will kill ANYTHING. Period.
Of course none of these are out yet so we'll see what we'll see. But that's my two cents.
After playing the beta I dont think that it will be the next big mmo. I think that the next big mmo will be a game with a new combat system like DCUO, or Vindictus because they have a new fresh feel instead of just the normal WoW combat. Im not saying it will be either of those games, but a game headed in that direction.
Been playing dc online its not to shabby not the worst game ive played..Im also waiting for swkotor...How ever if they keep adding things to dc online i may stick with it..My guild mates are going to try star wars so im in good already..Only time will tell if star wars will bring over players..
No, without a doubt. If it's good, it will attract a fanbase.
At first Guild Wars was thought to be the 'WoW killer' (trust me, i was there wen the hype exploded), then Warhammer online.. i remember some saying that about Aion, Age of Conan, and many other mainstream MMO's. None did nothing to WoW, but they did managed to atract a new fanbase. And let's not forget the extremely popular F2P mmo's like Perfect World, which holds a massive population.
Nothing will be a 'WoW killer' or even put a dent in it's 'armour', simple because it's to embedded in our society, it's probably one of the most well known games of all times. New games will obviously attract a number of old WoW players & posibly make a new fanbase like Guild Wars did, but easily WoW will fill it's base with new players, and so on. Like it always did. ALWAYS. Eh..
My biggest bet is that SWTOR will manage to attract a gigantic fanbase due to Star Wars. There's a huuuge SW fanbase out there, and maybe if the game is solid, polished & fun, and doesn't have high requirements but a good artstyle trough out the game (MMORPGs fail mainly due to the requirements), then maybe it'll challenge WoW.
I can imagine both of them co-existing, SW fanbase and the WoW fanbase, as the ultimate 2 massive beasts of the game world.
If SW managed to be solid, polished, fun..

And your comment makes sense...how?Where is the logic behind ur comment?
What do you mean?I dont ge it....
And if i were to promote Tera, what about that?Iam i forbidden to promote Tera, yet others are allowed to promote Rift?
And if i were one of those who hyped Aion...whats wrong with that?Others hyped Age of Conan and others Warhammer...iam i inferior in some way because i hyped Aion and not any other MMO?
P.S. i didnt hyped Aion...but i dont see any logical reason for you to accuse me of promoting it even if i was...
