Dual-slot cards dosent fit in my dell case without some slight modding. I have to cut some parts from the back of the case and some from the heat-sink fan shroud. Or should I just get a 4850? How much faster is the 4870 than 4850?

It's 20-30% faster than the 4850.

It also depends on the video card you use now, if it's a 8800gt or 8800gts it's not worth upgrading to a 4850.

I'd just get the 4850. It's a big performance jump from the 1950 pro.

So what would it be? The case modding is not hard. How much faster is the 4870?

Horny-Dude

get the 4850 for sure it competes with and evenbeats the more expensive gtx260 and 280 up until 1920x1200 rez with 4xaa. the speed diffrence from he 4850 is big enough to warrant the upgrade and the dual fan cooler will allow for better oer cloking.

4850 is single slot just to remind ya, which would defeat his modding :D good idea

Crysis Very High @ 19x12 with noAA and 16AF gets around 25-30fps on avg, depending on setup. Lots of reviews found here.

yes you can. Its rumbles with the 9800GTX, 98000gtx+ and GTX260. The card does tend to run hot, but ASUS has supplied their cards with software that has fan control. We will have to wait for ATI tool otherwise. I still dont know the problem tho, you look to have a dual slot card in that PC picture, what would it matter with the ATI one on the 4870?

ahhhh, well too bad DELLS are propriatary, or else you could get a new case. in realty, you would need a new motherboard too. WEll if you think you can do this mod, then do it. I modded my kandalf just for fun, its in the midst of waiting for the mesh to come and then its off to get painted.

You could just do a 4850 and do that. It can handle even CRysis at 16x10 on Very High with no AA for around 35fps, once again depending on CPU and other things.

Apparently they cared more about noise than heat. It will probably be fixed with the next drivers. I hope they will learn for the next round.
