I am going to purchase one, but is the extra 50 or so dollars really worth the S lol? I am looking to play Crysis on high with good framerate and I will purchase a GTS if need be. But what are the advantages if any?

Ya the 8800GTS 512mb is roughly 10-15% faster than thr GT. With My GT I play at 1280x1024 on veryhigh with an average of 45fps.

Yes he means GT....but take notice of his resolution and make sure you plan on running it at the same if you want those results

Also make sure its the 512MB G92 version and not the 640MB version. It sounds counterintuitive but the 512MB version of the 8800GTS is better than the its 640MB counterpart.

Well I have a 17' monitor and have most of my games play at 1024x780 which is even lower so I should be good right lol?

Yeah I have read about that all over. Anyone know why? It makes no sense that more memory is worse. I can understand it being an unnoticable increase in performance but worse?

The 512mb version uses a different architecture (G92) than the 640mb (G80). As a result, it is more efficient through its 65nm process and its general specs are better too. Basically, the 8800gts 512mb and 8800gts 640mb are different cards; it's just that Nvidia decided to call them the same thing

They have the same architecture with a few changes :P

The G92 is a die shrink with higher clocks with higher shader processing power than the G80 but reduced the memory bandwidth.

If you are playing at 1024x768 a 8800GT or GTS will be more than enough at that resolution with Crysis.
