He doesn't need a pcie 2.0, just an x16 slot. Its a good card, but your p4 will likely bottleneck it... and your power supply might not be powerful enough.

Basically it means your CPU is not fast enough for the GPU to operate as fast as its capable of. If thats a LGA775 motherboard I would upgrade your CPU too... Even if a lowend c2d or dual core Pentium.

Is your ram ddr2? I think you'd need a bit more than $200 to include a PSU. Whats your current PSU/specs?

Does the mobo have a pcie 2.0 slot for that vid card??Neo_revolution7

How is this gonna help answering if its a good card?

Its a decent card depending on what kind of rez your gonna be running at, as others have stated, upgrading will be a good thing, my friend was in the same boat as you, and with 180 bucks he upgraded to a low end amd system to start out with (amd x2 5000, 2gb ram, and gigabyte mobo), I gave him my old 8600gt and he was good on his way. Anyways back to the subject, Yes its a decent bottleneck as others have also said, which has been told to me with my 3800x2 @ 9800gtx, and then im still getting 60+ fps maxed out in my low 1280x1024 rez.

Im not gonna link prebuilt systems, before more information is giving out, meaning what you gonna be doing on this computer? Besides of course gaming? If your like me, who games constantly, and the most things you will be running is wmp and firefox, you wont need to be spending a pretty penny, to do so and still play games at decent frames.

A new power supply at the least. A new CPU would also be recommended to get the most out of your card, it sounds like your mb might support conroe c2d at the least...

Umm, I don't know, you should try to get your motherboard model... But being that it mentions conroe, it should support at least the older 65nm conroe chips, which are still good.

Depends on the RAM, ddr2-800, $20-$40... if you have just DDR it will be a bit more.

2gb ram pricing is 30-70 dollars. if youre asking whether it works or not, then yeah there's not much difference to go to 3gb or 4gb.

It's a nice card. I am running it with a 550w PSU.

It gives a 5.9 score for both graphics on vista 64.

I have the 9800GT, good card, runs quiet for me and I get around 30 FPS playing Crysis on high.
