It's a good card. I have an XFX 5850 and it serves me well. I can play all my games at 1680x1050 maxed at 40fps+, usually averaging around 50s or 60s depending on the game.

At this point I'd probably go for a 6870, as they're supposed to have better tesselation.

Well it's not really a seperate thing, I can get a custom prebuilt pc at around $400 with this card, an AMD Phenom II 3.2 Ghz processor dualcore that can be unlocked to quad, 4 gb ram, and 560 gb harddrive. Is that a good deal?

Yes. Make sure you have enough juice with the PSU.

A 5850 is very powerful. $200 cards are the start of the cards used for any serious gaming.

I'm pretty sure a $150 dollar card (GTX 460 768MB) dominates the gaming scene already.

Meh. The GTX 460 is overrated IMO. Uses too much power. That little 768MB uses as much as my 5850. It also gives you less power. To reach the same power levels you need to overclock which sucks down even more. My statement still stands. I wouldn't consider anything under $200 for any serious gaming. If your happy with a lesser card then by all means enjoy it.

That's pretty much beside the point. In terms of power, that "little" $150 card could max practically everything save 2 or 3 games. If that's not serious gaming, then I would like to know what is.

If you really want to talk power consumption, look no further than the 6850. Forget the 460s and 5850s - I would have to waste $70 on a new PSU for that. Why waste that kind of money when I can get the 6850, who is nearly just as powerful while consuming a ridiculously low amount of power?

Because you get more power for more consumption with the ATI cards. The GTX 460 gives you less for more. Serious gaming is maxing those last two or three games.
