My brother and I recently started to play BfME2 again and we now want to get the expansion. Looking online the only place we found it was Amazon for $100+. However I found it on the EA store for seven bucks digitally. My question is: Does EA still have the thing where you buy a game for a year, then pay for another five years if you want to download after that? Or did they realize that was a horrible mistake yet?

I think it is, but don't quote me on it.

Is that rise of the witch king? There are plenty of cheapish copies on ebay, well cheap compared to $100 lol.

Lol thanks. I still want to know that's the case because seven dollars is practically a steal.

I'm able to download Spore, and the EA download manager says I added it on 9/10/2008. I don't remember buying any insurance or extra gametime stuff, So I don't think so.

EDIT: Now that I think about it I do remember being offered insurance for the game and it costed about $5. It could cancel the 1 year thing or it might not.

If you look under"Performance of the Contract" here, the first sentance says: "The products and services that we make available on the Websites may be downloaded or accessed for at least one year after you have completed your purchase."

Wow, this is the reason why I hate a lot of what EA does. Thanks for the help.

Yep. Still has the lame rules. 1 year of downloads unless you pay extra for "extended download service" give you 5 years.

Direct2Drive makes fun of this, listing lifetime of downloading for free. shouldn't be too hard on them though, most of the games on there are available on Steam and D2D. Unlike Microsoft who refuses to sell any of their games digitally anywhere.

I don't understand why would they even do that in the first place. Are they really that greedy they need the extra five dollars?

There was a time when EA was the devil, they are good now but they must be lazy to change the contract of old games.
