Hey all, I have a 400 gig harddrive, I currently have about 85 or so gigs remaining. In the past I always knew it was bad, performance wise, to run games if you have say like 1 gig left or so on your harddrive. When I had an 80 gig drive before I upgraded, I tried to keep about 10-15 gigs free to keep it clutter free and running good. So, my question is, is the amount of free space you need to get good performance proportional, IE I'd need closer to 80 gigs on my 400 gig for good performance, or is it still just about 10-15? thanks..
yes it is good for the performance because if you run to low on hdd space the game, program will not have place for swap-files and eventually run out of virtual memory.Harddrives is the most bottlenecked part in the PC,if you haver a slow hdd the system will be bogged down in games and programs.
As long as there is enough space for the maximum recomended pagefile/virtual memory you are fine as far as performance goes but if you defrag with XP I believe you need %15 free.
