The 9800GTX is about 5% faster than the 8800GTX in most benchmarks.
And since the 4850 is about 5% faster than the 9800GTX we can say its faster than the 8800gtx.
edit: If you own a 8800gtx and want to upgrade to a 4850 dont even think about it, the performance difference its so small that doesnt even make it worth it.

I wouldn't bother, wait for the 58xxx and dx11I have a MSI 8800GT OC 512mb but i have a budget that can afford a Sapphire HD 4850 1Gb Vapor-X. Is this an upgrade or should i stick with the former? Any help is appreciated.
