is the intel core duo e6700 way better than the amd 5200+ or do they do just about the same performance or is the 6700 way better than the amd 64 x2 5200+

E6700 is better then anything on the market, except the higher clocked X6800.
The E6600 at stock is better then the FX62.

E6700 is better then anything on the market, except the higher clocked X6800.
The E6600 at stock is better then the FX62.

Yar and thats not even overclocked, you can expect well over 3ghz on any of the E6600s or greater with a decent cooler. Had mine over 3.6ghz last night, although its pretty pointless with my gfx card so run it less aggressively until I upgrade.

He was asking about performance, which I am going to assume is gaming performance.
E6700 is still as fast as the QX6700 and faster then the Q6600.
So no....

^ Exactly. Hardly any games take advantage of the quad-core - at the moment. So the E6700 will perform faster in gaming apps. Of course, if performance means all-round system performance, then the quad cores are obviously better.
