Is the majority of the TF2 community this bad?

So, after initially being unimpressed with the game, I thought I'd give TF2 another go.

I went into what was apparently a trading server, not really sure how they work. Anyway, I was using the sniper, and had a KDR of over 2:1, and... I was labeled a hacker (I was quite honored), cause most of my kills were headshots. Aiming must be a new concept, to the rocket spammers in TF2?
And of course, I'd turned my hacks off once they started spectating me.

Anyway, this went on for a bit, me owning them, them swearing and raging at me, until they finally decided to ban me, for being a "c***head". Which was disappointing, because I was enjoying their antics.

This, on top of all the F2P b****ing, leads one to believe the TF2 community are a bit... touchy...

Have they always been like this?

f2p really put a dent in the community, Now it's more about what team you're on, because one of them is likely gonna be spamming spy/sniper/engie instead of trying for the objectives.

You judge the community based on one single server? That's like judging the planet based on one single country. Some servers are similar, wile some are extremely different and friendly.

Not just that server, I've also read a few threads on the Steam TF2 forum.

I haven't experienced anything like what you're talking about in my 200 hours of play. With that said, I have experienced many teams since the game has gone F2P that have no idea what they are doing.

Maybe it's just cause they were Aussies. Aussies can be a bit.... daft... However, never in any other game, have I been called a hacker, in like, my third game. Yeah, I was doing pretty well, but not what you would expect from someone with wallhack/aimbot.

Whoever you were playing with were idiots, that much is obvious. I really can't remember ever encountering a real hacker in TF2, maybe once? I don't remember.

There are wide range of servers.. Like most games.

I have been in servers, where people were fun to game with, and were respectable, and if you were good, (instead of accusing you of cheating every kill) actually ask advice on how to get better themselves.

I have also been on servers, (especially on COD:MW1) Where I have been banned for hacking (numerous times) from numerous servers. I do not hack. I am a gamer, I freaking aim, and use my brain when I play. Some gamers just can't accept that they are NOWHERE near as good as they think they are, and when presented with raw data, (and abundant evidence) they reach the state of denial when they cry cheat/hack!.

I wouldn't base it off of one server though, move on to the next. There will always be immature people, and mature people (which is seldomly defined by age anymore)

Some have the mentality of I, I, I, I, I, I, or me, me, me, me..

Some have the mentality of actually recognizing that there are other people playing the game too!

I feel like all multi-player games have people like that. You probably know that already though. I had a experience like that as well with TF2 except for the fact that I was a spy and members of the other team are just constantly berating me about how "noobish" I play. As far as I know, I just started playing the game and if I feel like playing a Spy then I'll play a Spy, even if I'm doing it wrong.

stick to official maps if you want to get a feel for the game. If you're just starting out you wont know what custom maps are good and which arent. You shouldnt go onto trading servers to kill people anyway, not really. Trade servers are for finding trades.

demoknight is awesome on long play time maps like 5CP and CTF. Especially when you get 4 heads, it makes you almost as quick as the scout.

You went into a trading server. The community in the vanilla servers is amazing, people will give you free stuff, help you out, and just be generally nice.

Maybe it became that way since it's now Free 2 Play. I remember when I bought it I got my butt handed to me, maybe i'll have more fun now that there's a plethora of noobs.

I find that anytime a game goes F2P, there's almost always a loss in the quality of the community.

I haven't played TF2 yet, but I'm guessing with the introduction of F2P, more idiots will come play the game.

TF2 going F2P brought a flood of inexperience players, to not only TF2 but PC Gaming in general. So sadly I can see your story being repeated in the future.

I haven't played it since it became F2P, but certainly for the 3 years before that, this behaviour has not been typical at all. I can't even remember the last time I saw somebody accusing another person of cheating, especially not just because they have a high score.

If this has become typical behaviour since I last played, it's almost certainly down to an influx of F2P noobs that don't understand how some people have been playing the game longer than a month, and still need to understand just how Snipers work and how frustrating they are.
