well in a bit im going to be upgrading from my OC'd old GTS to either a new GTS or a GT.

for the same price of £199, i can get either a stock level 512MB GTS with the new G92 core, or a preoverclocked 512MB GT, with its core at 700MHz, memory at 2GHz, shaders at 1700MHz...

i really dont know which to get, i know that the GT is a fantastic card, and thats the most overclocked one i have found, but at the same price i could get the next card up...so what do you guys think i should do?

thanks.

I went from an 8800GTS 320MB to a MSI 8800GTS 512MB G92 and all I can say is IT IS WORTH IT.

The performance difference are very significant. I would highly recommend the 8800GTS 512MB version.

Cheers.

The 8800GTS 512MB is better/newer than the 8800GT, although the 8800GT OC version is clocked higher, the performanceis still lower thanthe 8800GTS 512MB.

The 8800GT comes with a very badheatsink therefore it is easily heated and possibly can't overclocked any higher whereas the 8800GTS 512MB G92 comes with a good fan and heatsink. My MSI 8800GTS 512MB OC (730/1944) idles at 43 degrees and loads atbelow 60degrees.

The 8800GTS 512MB would be the best choice for you. Try to get the MSI version if you can.

interesting review, although isnt that MSI version OC'd as well? its just i cant really afford to go too much over £200, and i think that one is around £230 :(

having said that,i gues si could just wait and get it once the price drops...has anyone here got an OC'd GT? how does it fare?

Ok i found some benchmarks. the OC GT you are thinking to get 700/2000 beats easily a stock GTS 512mb and comes only 1-2 frames behind the MSI 8800GTS OC. so i would go for the 8800GT

This is just incomprehensible to me. The 8800gts 320 is still one of the better cards available today, upgrading to either of those would be a waste of money imo. At the very least, wait for the new generation of graphics cards..

Frankly, the old 8800GTS's are still pretty solid performers. I would just wait for the next-gen cards from Nivida/ATI. It doesn't seem worth the money just to get a 30%-40% performance increase. However, I'll leave that decision up to you. If you've got good case cooling, then I would go with the 8800GT. The new 8800GTS is a great card if you overclock it, but is seems a little bit expensive for the price.

well the reason im upgrading is because a friend wants to buy my card so he can run 2 in sli (he already has one) and seeing as he cant find the same card in shops anymore, i will sell mine to him, so its like im getting a free upgrade in a way, i go from this card to a GT for like, £40....so in the long run it just means its kind of a middle card before the next set come out, and i properly upgrade...but as he wants mine, i can afford to put about £50-60 toward the card i want so its basically a choice betweenm these two for now.

by the looks of thins, i might go for the GT...but il have to wait for stock lol

That's just silly imo. Let your friend browse e-bay if he wants to buy one so bad. OldGTS to GT is just stupid even for that price, and tell your friend that he should wait, like you, for the next gen. I mean honestly what is a month or two.

Funny seeing this post because I have an MSI OC'd gts 320mb & was considering the same "upgrade".

I think I'll wait for the summer new releases.
