Is the stock heatsink/fan on a x4 940 better than this one?

Just got my stuff in the mail today and I did order a diff fan setup for the CPU, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185074

But, the stock fan that came with the CPU doesn't look all that bad. I'm guessing that the Ninja 2 is the better one but the stock has the heatpipes through it too, Just not as long as the scythe and they don't really run vertically which would help with better heat dissipation I'm guessing, If anyone knows thanks in advance.

Ive seen that the stock cooler does keep the phenom II's pretty cool. I really dont know if they are better than the scythe ninja though.

Some guy gave a review saying he has a Phenom II 940 at 3.7GHz with an idle temp of 27-29C and full foad temp of 35-41C in a 70F room. That's pretty good right? The only thing I'm worried about is that this thing is friggin HUGE. I Hope my case will accommodate it, I just won't know till tomorrow cause it got shipped seperately...... (Sucks too, now all I can do is stare at all these parts lol....)

that is fantastic, honestly as long as your cpu is under the 75-80c mark on load... then you should have no problems.

I haven't built mine yet, still waiting on the mobo (since newegg sold out, grrr!). It does have a good heatsink/fan for a stock, has to be the best I've seen yet. AMD did something right with these at least. Suprised the Core i7's don't come with a better stock heatsink/fan. Heard they run pretty hot stock even.

In case anyone hasn't seen'em, this is what comes with the PIIx4 940 Denob Processor -

P2940b

I know the pics are terrible quality, but it's best I can do with a Phone camera. lol:twisted:

Yah it's definately better, but if you spend an extra $30-$40 for a seperate heatsink/fan, it should be. ;)

Yeah that's the same stock fanas mine cept mine has a plastic retention lever on it I believe. I was figuring the scythe was better just wanted to make sure, (Or at least see how the stock performs if I can't fit this beast in the case...) I also read warnings about cutting yourself up when installing lol. I guess the aluminum fins are pretty sharp. I'm gonna have to take pics of this for those that haven't seen it in person, The default pics really don't give the scale of this thing. Hell with no case I've got time on my hands... I'll try to get some up now.

EDIT: Bah, Have to charge my camera for about 5-10 mins....

Ok so forget about the pictures for now.... How long does it take for uploaded pics to be update on this site anyways? It's been a couple hours and they still aren't there. I'd use some hosting site but I didn't feel like registering anywhere.

That's what I like to hear. ;) Though I just might leave the OC alone untill I can really make use of it. (which I'm sure won't take long) ;)

trust me these new phenoms run freezing cold without the overclock it would run at 25C idle and 35c load and when you overlcock form 3.0Ghz to 3.75Ghz you see and feel a big difference in frame rates also it bumped my 3DMark score by 922marks =O
